The Signing of Dwayne Haskins is Already a Success

He’s got a chance before it’s too late.

If Brett Favre wasn’t traded? Who knows? Josh Freeman had a nice upside any it melted away.

Haskins — best thing would be to heed Chuck Noll’s legendary mantra: Let your actions speak so loud I can’t hear you

I'll bet ya a 6 pack, Rudolph shines on Thursday.

If they hold either of these QBs back any at all it would be a disgrace. OPEN them up wide open and see what the hell we've got. Make this a "camp" battle and put the pressute on them both. FRY and see who doesn't get burned.

I wouldn’t buy too much into the hype but I feel he takes Dobbs spot and ends up battling next year with Rudolph and a draft pick. I personally feel this is Roethlisberger’s fair well tour.

ONLY if he gets to play or in a mop up role. Ben will play all 17. (1/2 full)

Didn't watch the game. So, how did Haskins look? By his numbers it looks like he did nothing but maybe that was the gameplan.

Haskins didn’t look bad but he wasn’t good either. Uninspired is probably the best way to put it. Missed some easy throws and didn’t take any chances, just dump offs. Rudolph was the better QB week 1.

I was happy with the QB play from all 3 QBs. I was most surprised and impressed with Dobbs last night. He took a big step back his last training camp with us which led to his trade. He should be putting on a clinic against 4th qtr pre season players, and he is.

Also I said this on the Q&A, you don't get rid of a QB if your franchise QB is going to retire at the end of the year. Period. I don't look to move Mason or Haskins. Dobbs is a luxury this year and I hope we can PS him. He is eligible. The only QB I'd think to trade would be Dobbs again, and how nice would it be to get 2 picks from that man?

Rudolph still looked, for lack of a better word, hesitant. He's got a few more games, but in my eyes he looked the least ready to start.

Joe

I watched up through the last 6 minutes of the game.

First, I agree with T man. Rudolph sure doesn't have the look of a starting QB. What happened with the fumbled hand off to Claypool?

Haskins didn't look too bad for being new in the system. I especially liked the one play when the pocket was breaking down, he scrambled for about 7-8 yards and slid down.

From what I saw last night, by the end of the pre-season, Haskins may be the backup QB.

He can run and he has whip for an arm very accurate too…. I’m gonna date myself here but he reminds me of Jefferson street joe… the woulda been coulda been best qb ever too come out of Tennessee State college. his foot work his arm… wonder what terry thinks when he sees him throw wearing the black n gold… Bradshaw was joe biggest fan they should make a made for TV movie about them terry knew he got beat out fair n square but joe couldn’t handle the pressure let drugs destroy his life. I hope This kid makes in joes name, I hope he knows how great a gift football is.. go Steelers!

To me, it seems like the same guys responded better to Haskins than Rudolph. Rudolph has a great deep ball but he makes me think of a young Kent Graham. Haskins just has more of the it factor than Rudolph. These next couple of preseasons are going to be fun to watch. With these 2

What "it" factor did you see?

You just gave Rudy the kiss of death. Graham looked great on paper, and played like turd. It was painful.

I think there are more miles on Haskins' tires than on Rudy. Also, Dobbs looked better than I expected him to.

The way the offense played around him. Maybe it’s my perception.
I was just asking because I didn't see anything that made me think "maybe the Steelers got a steal." He just looked like a guy out there.

So he did ok… didn’t throw anything really bad… but his stats were subpar…one preseason game doesn’t mean much though…

i know his pedigree and big arm has people drooling, but here is the reality… if he doesn’t make a real case that he deserves to stay he might get practice squaded this year… Rudolph has a negative cap hit if he is cut… that isn’t happening… maybe they trade him if they can get assets back but they wont eat that cap hit just to cut him….

they aren’t going to just walk away from him so Haskins has to show he is a better option than Dobbs as the number 3… they probably need to give him a shot with the starters to see where he is at…
