It is no secret that the national media has an extreme bias against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Any time the Steelers come up on ESPN or NFL Network, the common theme is they are “overrated” or quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is “washed up”. Well, Steelers defensive captain Cam Heyward set the record straight on Tuesday when he joined the cast of Good Morning Football on NFL Network.

“Ben’s still got the goods. Anyone that tells you otherwise, they haven’t really looked at football,” Heyward said during his interview on Tuesday. Hewyard also added, “If you give that guy a good running game and tell him he doesn’t have to throw the ball 50-60 times, he’s going to be that much more dangerous”.

A major deficiency in most analysis performed on Roethlisberger last year was the fact that the Steelers had no run game. The Steelers offense was so one-dimensional that teams could drop 7+ defenders in coverage and make it pretty much impossible for the Steelers pass game to succeed. The Steelers have addressed the run game by adding first-rounder Najee Harris and adding good offensive line depth through the draft and free agency.

Creating a more balanced offense will not only help Roethlisberger in the short-term, but prolong his career for however much longer he decides to play. The Steelers have never cared about what anyone outside of their building thinks, but it is nice for the fans to see that the players always have their quarterback’s back. Cam has been doing a lot of "captain" work. I know he has the inside scoop and has been very class, which is much appreciated omongst us fans. I'm in the boat that BEN has enough in the tank provided he is given some help and if anyone hasn't noticed.................. our front office has loaded up on the HELP he needs.

One thing though,..... the MEDIA will not back off and I'd like the make a comment that is very much needed

If Ben can get some conditioning on, like Ike T points out, he may actually be able to take snaps under center. If we run our entire offense out of pistol and shotgun the run game will continue to suffer imho.

Ben has to want to keep improving every day and work towards that just to fend off the decline from aging...I’m not so sure he’s 100% committed to being the best Ben he can be at this stage of his career and without that we can likely expect a similar results as we’ve had in the recent past.

Not quite sure his career rests on a guy that may not even start, but the OL in general needs to not be the same group of regressing Sallies it’s been since Munch left.

Steelers just need a running game.
The pass game threats are there. But they need a balanced attack. The Steelers faltered at the end because the offense became extremely predictable.

Ben will be fine

That and an OC worth a damn. And nice touch DIC on the Red Hot Poker comment, it needed a comeback.

Benched by the middle of the season. 🤡

I was actually watching that show...Mikey ChristmasTree is a freaking idiot. He is consistent though, lol...never stops bad-mouthing the Steelers...but this was so over-the-top that Orlovsky was losing it.

I forgot to mention Mikey Hot-Takes also said the Steelers have nobody that can start an NFL game behind Ben...but Tomlin should bench him anyway...lolz.

You can't make this **** up...too funny.

Ridiculous clickbait.

But letting people show how stupid they are is half the fun.

Ben will be benched and Haskins will come out on fire........................! !!!!!!!!!!!!!

How's those peanuts cookiN

We need our own super sleuth reporter. Someone to stake out Ben's house , follow him around report on his actual training regimen. Like paparazzi. I nominate coach.

Quit showing coach such little respect, that's a capital C in Coach. If given gas money he probaably would do it and could put the video on YouTube for all of us to enjoy. The H-U-G-E added bonus is just maybe we'd get lucky enough for him to commentate on them................ live
