Report – Steelers Set to Sign Kick Sloman

According to a report by Tom Pelissero, the Pittsburgh Steelers will be adding some kicking competition for long time kicker Chris Boswell. The team is expected to sign second year kicker Sam Sloman.

The #Steelers are expected to sign kicker Sam Sloman, pending a physical, per source. He kicked for the #Rams and #Titans as a rookie last season.

Boswell bounced back from a horrendous 2019 campaign to convert on 19 of 20 field goal tries in 2020.

Sloman spent time last year in Los Angeles with the Rams where he converted 11 of 13 field goals before being released. He was signed by Tennessee and was 2 of 2 before being released there.

Sloman wasn’t released due to performance, but due to the starting kicker being healthy in both cities.

wont cost and since the camp is at Heinz they will see fast how he adapts kicking to the north end and have his range for both sides, South end Bos can hit 51-52 and I believe 47 is the most MT has been comfortable sending bos out to kick towards the north end, sometimes in nov Dec that can be reduced to 45 b/c of the winds, Bos has the winds figured out well. win-win

with unreliable kickers have gotten based on contract I wouldn't try saving a little and cutting Bos he is pretty much money at Heinz North end inside 45 usually not a worry, it MT that anything 47 48 he thinks its better going for it on 4th, South end he can easily make I would say 53, he did at the end of half 1 kick a 51 yd FG in that humiliating loss vs CLV
