Steelers Release David DeCastro

Gotten something for him. Lol. He played like **** last year. Simply still might not be 100 percent but yeah....someone would have dished out a draft pick for him. Just like we got one for that CB we released. What was his name again?

I was thinking a late round pick if he was 100%, I know he was not very good last year. He regressed in 2019 so I can't blame the injury for all of his recent short comings. His salary is also prohibitive for someone to offer much so yea, probably little or no interest and that's assuming the front office even tried which probably didn't happen.

****, since everyone is speculating:
Tombert: "Big DD, why aren't you suited up for mandatory mini-camp?"
DeCastro: "Injury"
Tombert: "What injury? We thought the knee would heal during the off season."
DeCastro: "Not the knee. My ankle this time. Not sure if I'll be good to go during training camp. Might not be myself again this year."
Tombert: "And you're just now mentioning this? Why don't you retire?"
DeCastro: "$8.75M reasons not to"
Art: "Release him."

Alright, jumping on the conspiracy bandwagon - DD found out they're not letting them practice in Latrobe (while the Cowboys get to go to CA) and it was the final straw. He was pretty vocal about Covid and the restrictions, so maybe he's had enough of the double-standard BS in addition to the ankle and a pro-bowl level, 9-year career having made a ton of money.

He probably also misses his brothers.

/takes tinfoil hat off

I'm guessing he wasn't recovered from last year's injuries.

wonder if he saw that state of OL and wanted to move on to a team that had more experience.
Highly doubt it, NO ONE is going to pay him more than what he was making here. Also I think it's a case of injury and healing time. The STEELERS weren't paying that much for him to sit so they cut him and are looking for someone who can play NOW.

Salute the nation

Wow! A 39 year old non - mobile QB behind this patchwork OL. Hopefully these starting five can run block well and Najee carries the load otherwise Ben will get destroyed this year.
DeCastro was always their best OL the last decade and their answer is who? This could be ugly this season.

I think the Steelers will be adding a O-lineman really quick. Remember that ****** Oline from last season? It needed revamping. That is what it's doing.

Why not? He has brand new students...

But, back to the freaking elephant in the room - WHAT IN THE FACK IS HAPPENING??? This season is going to be the ULTIMATE HIGH if we get into the playoffs....

Where's my bottle o' rum???

If you come down to miami I can buy you a beer, limited offer until June 6th hehe

Ramon Foster’s tweet says it all. Steelworth is right DD misses his brothers in arms. Ramon on his DK podcast commented that Al not being there, plus Pouncey retiring kinda probably let him feel removed from the OL chemistry that he had.

If he didn’t want to be there, then it is time to move on.

My speculation,, DD has something wrong, by releasing decastro his hospitalization bills etc.. are covered..

hey i said it was speculation.

I hear yas about losing his brothers in arms. However i cant get my head around throwing away a few million for antother ,,, 8 mo. of work.

If DD does have some kind of illness, i would hope it was a surprise to the steelers because if they knew they wouldn't have DD at all this year, their offseason plan was crazy. A guy like Turner sitting there in June is super lucky.

Apparently it's bone spurs in his ankles. He had surgery before last season to clean them up, but it didn't take. Then had surgery after the season and that one didn't take. Now scheduled for a third surgery. The Steelers couldn't afford to wait to see if surgery #3 works. I'd argue that they should have bought in a better option than Coward (sp?). But, I don't know when they were made aware that surgery #2 didn't work.
Yeah, you're right, they were lucky to have a guy like Turner available this late.

I just listened to the podcast and they spent quite a bit of time on DeCastro's fit in the OL room without all of his buddies there. What really stood out is the young feel of a group can take it out of you faster than performance can.

This is good news. Steelers upgraded. Decastro has been going downhill. He was never a great run blocker. He was a technician but got bullied and I believe part of the short yardage struggles were Pouncey and Decastro being soft.
Thing is Pouncey and Decastro were the good inside zone blockers on the OL - they could zip out into space and seal. NOW, the FO has put together an OL w/ an extremely agile C in KG, no DeCastro but Turner is deceptively quick. Injuries and age have quelled the bear inside of him - MAYBE he can summon the dark powers and again be a mauler the likes of which we Yanda seen before?!

The other three linemen? - straight up gangsta maulers.

So what plays are we gonna call? Because Dot, Ok, and Banner aint getting out there in time for an effective zone. And KG & Turner are susceptible to getting blown the **** up in the middle.

I just dont know. I would toy with a pass-happy, C-Finney/ RG-Coward, shotgun & 5-wide offense.

Word is DeCastro is battling a troubling Bone Spur that keeps recurring despite 2 surgeries now. The only way to get rid of a Bone Spur in Nutritionally. P5P & Magenesium 2x a day will resolve any Bone Spur in 30 days or less. I've been battling bone spurs for the past 7 years of my life and it ended my recreational sports career.....recently discovered P5P & Chelated Magenesium. It friggin works on any bone spurs anywhere in the human body. Try it if you have Bone Spurs.....amazing relief.
