He’s back folks. After being initially released a few weeks back, middle linebacker Vince Williams is returning to the Pittsburgh Steelers:

The Steelers are re-signing linebacker Vince Williams, per sources. He had other offers but wanted to stay in Pittsburgh.

This is great news. Williams has been a staple in the defense for years, known for his hard hits and gritty play. We will update with details on the deal as they unfold, but first and foremost, welcome back Vince aka Binny. It’s good to know you’re back.

I thought they were keeping A. Williamson. That would be Bush, Spillane, Vince, and Williamson. Great depth, but must be quite a bit invested on a couple guys who may not play.

I like the signing. What is the $$ amount?

I'm glad to have him back. I like his old school attitude and he is very good at generating pressure. As much as you've heard talk about the Steelers potentially drafting an ILB with No. 24, I just didn't see it happening because they need so much on offense. This move pretty much solidifies that.

One less casualty on defense. Welcome back even though by playing standards you weren’t gone lol

Always good to have Lil' Thumper around...

Get out the hats and fukn hooters! Zaawhhhooooitfukndoooooo!! Browns are signing a dangerous bookend for rushing the qb that’s better at run stuffing and were signing retreaded old tires! Let’s do fukn cartwheels!!! Teams single willams out every time he’s on the field they throw at him and run at him you’d think they would want to upgrade at middle linebacker. Johnson was never but a back up pressed into starting they should have upgraded the run stuff position along time ago. didn’t anyone in our front office watch the last half of the season or the playoff game? The browns ran over us and through us like we were less that a turnstile. Or just all go to Florida early? We haven’t made any fundamental changes to this team other then subtract key players. If they think resigning johnson and ty alualu “fixes“ our run defense it’s going to be a long ******* season.

Villanueva hasn't been signed by anyone yet either. I bet he's back at a cap-friendly price as well.

if AV is back just make TE

AVERY SHOULD HAVE BEEN THE ONE SIGNED instead of BINCE. Spillane should be playing in front of Bince. Tomlin likes his VETs to a detrimental degree and keeps them to long as in this case. Bince was a part of our #1 defense but also a liability in to many situations when he was on the field. I thought for sure Avery was coming back but instead we got a vet.

What situations is Vince a liability in that Williamson isn't?

If we don't take a tackle in the first round I'd much rather have AV at LT than Okorafor or Banner.
I'd like to see how Banner does, he only played a game and a half last year and went on IR.

I think Williamson is better at dropping in coverage in comparison.
Williamson is very good in that area.

Here are some stats from one point last year: https://insidetheiggles.com/2020/11/03/philadelphia-eagles-avery-williamson/

Williamson has been targeted 33 times and has allowed 31 completions for 314 yards and a 93.7 pass rating. In 2018, he was targeted 67 times and allowed 48 completions for 513 yards and three touchdowns. If you aren’t a fan of numbers, watch the film or ask a Jets fan. Pass coverage is easily Williamson’s biggest weakness.
