The Pittsburgh Steelers potentially interested in trading for Sam Darnold
Recent reports state the Pittsburgh Steelers could be one of a few teams interested in the former USC quarterback.
thought the same.Could it be that's one f the reasons JuJu came back?
They shouldn't be feeling good about those guys. I would make the deal and send Haskins packing. They have an 8th overall QB from Washington and a guy they supposedly had a first round grade on. If they make this deal they are not feeling good about those guys
For the sake of accuracy, Haskins was #15 overall, not #8. Not that it really matters...he sucks either way. They have an 8th overall QB from Washington and a guy they supposedly had a first round grade on. If they make this deal they are not feeling good about those guys
Hell...why not...For the sake of accuracy, Haskins was #15 overall, not #8. Not that it really matters...he sucks either way.
I'd love to see the Steelers give Darnold a chance.
Hell...why not...
They seem to be after reclamation projects or finding a diamond or two in the rough this off-season..
If they Jets draft a QB...I would offer a 4th this year and a 5th next for him.
The Steelers have a new QBs coach. So that would be a wait and see.my problem with any of these reclamation projects Haskins
/Darnold is I have no confidence in any QB coaching to actually make them better
If you're asking about Darnold, no. He's in the last year of his contract, with a $920,000 salary, $3.85 million roster bonus, and a $5.02 prorated signing bonus (which would stay with the Jets even if they trade him). So his cost to a new team in 2021 would be under $5 million.Isn't he due like 20 something million this year in salary?
Well that ends this argument. This team is not trading for a guy that will cost close to 5 million dollars this year and a 15-20 million 2022 option. Not happening. You could be thinking about the 20 million for 2022 if the Steelers (or any other team acquiring Darnold) would decide to pick up his fifth-year option. He would be eligible for the third-highest tier, which is yet to be determined, but expected to be in the 15-20 million range. And that decision would have to be made by May 3rd.

Actually, had Ben retired, it would have made perfect sense for the Steelers. Now, I don't know about "case closed," but it's unlikely.Well that ends this argument. First of all, Flacco signed with the Eagles.^This^
I’ll take it one step further. Why would NYJ pick up the 5th year option when they already know their future franchise QB is one month away? They could keep Darnold at his 4th year rookie salary and be their 3rd QB behind Flacco and the rookie. Better yet why pay the 3rd QB that much when you can sign another for $800k (minimum). Nope, if there isn’t a team going to trade for him, and why would they if they haven’t already, Darnold will be cut. Then he can choose where to go. Wherever he goes he’s getting a 1 year deal. He saw what happened to Rosen being dealt, I doubt he wants the same result. PIT could be a good opportunity for him like Haskins, and like Haskins he’s only getting a minimum one year deal.
But Ben did not retire, and if he had, my guess is they look at Rudolph as much as Darnold. But either way this trade is not happening. Good chance Trask is on board at 24. I'd have more faith he could be QB of the future than Sam Darnold with his 213 yards per game and almost one to one TD to Int ratio.Actually, had Ben retired, it would have made perfect sense for the Steelers. Tip of the hat’ Top. It didn‘t hit me that he was a FA and signed with Philly. He’s a Jersey guy so he’s still close to home.First of all, Flacco signed with the Eagles.
But, yes, I agree that there is no way the Jets are going to pick up Darnold's fifth-year option. And they don't want to pay his roster bonus when training camp rolls around, either. That's why they're shopping him around now.
