Steelers looking at James Campen for O_line position

This is probably our guy.

"With the head coaching change in Green Bay in 2019, Campen became associate head coach and offensive line coach for the Cleveland Browns for 2019. In 2020, Campen was the offensive line coach for the Los Angeles Chargers but was once again not retained due to a head coaching change for the third time in three season"

hmmmm I guess if thats what it takes. hire the guy

I read quite a bit of high praise for Campen. Numerous writers suggested him for teams getting new head coaches. He also seems to have a good track record developing offensive lineman as well as coaching teams with strong ground games.

Following his NFL career, Campen began as the assistant offensive line coach in Green Bay in 2004. Promoted to the offensive line coach in 2007, Campen held the position with Green Bay for 12 seasons and also became the run game coordinator in 2018.[/I]

I like that last bit a lot.

I recently asked about this and apparently most OL coaches are the run game coordinators while the OCs handle the passing games. The title is largely there to help coaches boost their credentials for pay raises or jobs.

As I dig I am starting to cool on the guy. Experience but there is some performance hickups. As in overall body of work - as sacks given up on regards to his squads recently.

I think maybe art has stepped into the hiring's doesn't want yes men and that these guys to make a run will have a plan formulated to get the ground game as it is still not official matt is oc

I hope Matt Canada holds true and if need (behind the scenes) calls out CMVLT on occasion. Something needs to change the overall conservative **** Tomlin clings to. Butler needs to get a backbone or maybe butler needs to go ( I know it's been discussed lengthy). If Tomlin truely called the Browns game then major **** up.

Unfortunately the last 10 years were almost a carbon copy of the 80s as far as playoff wins and conference championship games and they did it with Malone , Woodley and Brister. Of course they had Noll and we had the idiot Tomlin.

Im pretty sure the assistant oline coach’s lone responsibility is fetching coffee and carrying clipboards

When Munchak was here, he broke the OL up into two groups for a portion of their practices and he worked with one half and Sarrett worked with the other half. When Sarrett took over, the guy the Steelers brought in as an assistant OL coach did pretty much what you said. He got pieces of equipment to move and seemed to stand there and watch. Hopefully that changed over time, but never saw an offensive line practice session run like that in previous years.

Saw on the nfln crawl that the Steelers have promoted Adrian Klemm from assistant to the Offensive Line Coach.
