Report – Steelers Show Early Interest in Harris

Love Williams. Gainwell has some explosive capabilities too. I think you can't go wrong with either but after those two I think there is a drop off. I wouldn't mind the Steelers moving up in 2 to secure one of them if they didn't go RB in 1.

I wouldn't be surprised if they packaged a 2022 draft pick to move up in the second or third because I'd expect them to receive the max number of comp picks next year with potentially very good ones from Dupree and JuJu.

But less well with first names Like Najee. Najeh Doogie Davenport disappointed.

This draft is light on special RBs IMO. But not light on Tackles. That could come into play depending on who is sitting there come the pick. Remember at 24 you aren't getting the best or the second best tackle. But you might be able to get the best RB on the board. We'll see. I like some RBs that are slated for round two too. How many Ts picked early could dictate their pick.

It's true there are more OTs than RBs but far more OTs get pick high than RBs. So by round 2 you may have the 3rd best RB on the board and the 8th or 9th best OT. I would much rather have the 5th best OT and 4 best RB than get the 8th best OT and 1st or 2nd RB. OT is harder to find.

I would argue for TE over RB as well. I think Freiermuth should be the pick. It is very hard these days to find a TE that can both block and catch.

Also, McFarland is perfect for Canada's system. He actually played in it already. Snell is a decent RB if they improve the OL.

Is he the closet *******?

An average RB behind a good line beats a great RB behind a crap line. Therefore, they need to pass on RB earlyy

O line, all the time.

Williams for the Chiefs only because CEH has been hurt. CEH should be 100% for the SB and I expect him to be much more involved than the AFC Championship game. He can run and catch.

I had Harris as our first round pick in my way too early mock draft. Power back, good hands, excellent pass pro. Logical fit. Will be interesting to see what is done about the offensive line. I personally think Chuks would be a better LT than RT because of his natural movement skills and he’s a finesse blocker. Not saying he’s going to be a good LT but a better fit there than RT. Villanueva I think would come back for a reasonable price. He’s loyal to the team that made him what he is but I still think he wants 10 million x 3 years. We might not be able to afford a discount rate. Feiler who everyone seems to hate I personally like. He’s position versatile and an above average RT. I’d like to bring him back to be honest and put Dotson at RG. DeCastro is the toughest decision in my book. 8.5 million savings if cut on his 15 million cap hit for a 31 yo lineman. I feel we can likely draft a cheaper alternative or Aviante Collins might be in play at LG or OC. If we cut DeCastro I definitely bring in one more interiors lineman to compete.

idk why anyone is high on chuks . Theres a reason our o line is dog doo. Feiler isnt a guard. And chuks isnt a starter.

They got rid of the o line coach for a reason too. Not just because he didnt have them running the rope drills correctly. The blame of Sarret (by not renewing contract) . Is it because his run schemes were bad or non existant? Our starters couldnt move anyone? Or maybe for not recognizin feiler belonged out at tackle. And that Dotson was a better graded out LG than Feiler.

I optimistically think the OLine would have been better with Banner. Feilers a Free agent . I would let him walk.

I said it a while ago that I would run to the podium if he is there at 24. If he runs well, I just don't think he will fall that far. I wasn't thinking of TE but if the TE from Florida falls to us, he would be another skill player I would take. He can do everything the great TE's in the league currently do and he is a more than capable blocker. At RB, I'd also consider Etienne in the 1st.

If Kyle Pitts makes it past 1.15 - there's something wrong. He's an exceptional TE (still needs some work in the blocking game but that is very teachable) - everyone after Pitts is a drastic drop off. I'm waiting until the 4th for a blocking TE - Ebron will be fine.

Etienne IS ON my radar because he is nearly a clone of Alvin Kamara - durability is the question w/ Travis...

This logic is how you end up w/ McFarland's v.s. McCaffrey's...

True.. I think you need to find a balance. Can't just draft any RB but even the best RBs aren't going to do anything behind a terrible OL.

I think this RB class is better than last year's so that's good for us. Also, a really good OL class.

No, no, no, no, no...Freiermuth over Harris??? BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! And I'd rather see more of JaySam than McFarland - his vision is piss poor...

I suppose when I look in the first round I try to get a realistic feel for the team. The Steelers aren't Super Bowl contenders for at least the next few years, which will oddly enough waste away a championship level defense (when healthy). That's not to say they can't compete for the playoffs, but they need to upgrade the talent on offense. It's going to be tempting to take the flashy running back. Harris has the size and the highlight film to get anyone excited. He also got to run behind a line full of bulldozers. The Steelers are gonna line up some Tonka trucks on the offensive line next year unless they bring in some blue chippers. Offensive linemen are the foundation to a retooled offense and will help set the tone being physical in the trenches again. A first-round running back is the flashy piece to help elevate an already good offense.

They are absolutely still superbowl contenders. Run game,OL and an offensive coordinator who isn't a moron. They are right on the edge. I firmly believe that. It's all on the coaches at this point. Now if Ben retires or they go another direction, all bets are off until they find that next guy to build around.

They need to be aggressive on D, like in 2019, playing the best safety in the NFL 20 yards off the LOS is taking away alot of his play making ability. We keep hearing about how we want our offense to be able to adjust and scheme, well the same goes for the D.
If it's a run heavy team, then get the hell out of the 2 DL sets. If they are throwing short quick passes, get your damn safeties up in the box to try to eliminate. Stop matching your slow *** ILB up on wr's. And that all falls on Tomlin.

Harris is very similar to Le'veon. Both patient runners, both have good hands and can route run. Neither of them have great breakaway speed, Harris probably slightly more athletic.
I think Lev may be a little more twitchier with cuts and foot work.

Yeah...I can see that a little..

But to me... I compare his style of play to be more aligned with Kamara's..

Yep....

LOL ... I saw this after I made my post..

a guy in the 3rd who could be as productive asa power back similar traits to the 2017 Fournette Falconns Turner and carnell Williams UGA Zamir White 6"0 215 patient with some homerun speed a load to bring down kind like chris keeps fighting.

some options
Rnd 1 RB harris
rnd 2 LT Mayfield
rnd 3 TE Friermuth
rnd 4 C/G Clevland/Morrissey

or rnd 1 OT Leatherwood
rnd 2 2 CB Isreal
rnd 3 Lindstrom C
rnd 4 RB White
4 RG/C Cleveland

Like I've probably been saying for one too many years. This is on the coaches of the team. That has been our achilles heel and they need to step it the hell up. I never see them take blame for ****. They half *** take it and dish on the players. The coaches need to lead, set the tone be great teachers and above all tactical generals with ******* battle plans.

All I see is the same **** every year. It's like they dust off the same **** every year and get the same results.

I gotta tell you if you honestly believe this Tomlin coached team is a Super Bowl contender next year, please PM me. I have some magic beans to sell you.

Harris won’t be there I don’t think... teams will figure him out... he like LV bell was for us, in that you can motion him wide and throw the ball to him he’s a huge threat on the outside with is size speed mobility. He may even actually even be better as a flanker in the right offense catching 5 to 7 slants a game, bubble screens, jet sweeps... he’s the total package u can build whole offense around him
