Dolphins Interested in Matt Canada for Open OC Spot

Dickerson and Dotson is a scary duo. I've seen alot of mocks (it's early) that have Dickerson going 3rd or 4th round???

I don’t know where things are now, but in December it was pretty much a concensus no center was going over the mid to late second round....even if MP is back taking a center now is a really great plan

I'd be surprised if he fell that far. I think 2nd round.

I'd love to get Slater from Northwestern in the 1st but I doubt he lasts til 24. He can play Guard, Center, and Tackle. Projected to be a very good center though.

Exactly. This is what I'm hearing from my SEC contacts (particularly LSU alum). If that's the case - just dust off the rolodex and bring back Coach Haley...

But they key here is that he tells head coaches when they are being stupid and frankly maybe that's what we need, not a yes man quivering in his boots and doing conservative nonsense so as not to stir the pot...

This pot needs stirred... maybe people will learn from it... when pressed, Tomlin has adapted...

I'm led to believe if Canada was the Steelers guy they would've already made him the OC. Fichtner was named OC less than 24 hours after Hailey was shown the door.

I think you're right. Why would Canada even interview with Dolphins if he knew Steelers were going to name him? Maybe he wants to see who gives him more money, I guess that is possible.

Canada is a good fit with Tua. Tua struggled this year under Chan Gallery’s more traditional passing attack. They obviously want to install more of a college scheme to take advantage of his running ability.

I was just thinking that. Any QB like Tua would benefit from Canada. I also think Chan Gailey returning to Pittsburgh with either Ben or Mason wouldn’t be a bad idea. I think with either he would be a good fit.

I wouldn't mind that BUT...

I really want a NEW fresh mind at OC - Leftwich comes to mind but this is going to be an interesting offseason to say the least...

I disagree with that... Arians was nothing like whiz... whiz had different philosophies different then Mularkey, Mularkey was a total overhaul from Gilbride, like absolutely nothing was the same...

I'm not talking about scheme at all. They need a shakeup in terms of an offensive authority coming in to make them a little uncomfortable in a good way. A guy who they're not familiar with who's going to challenge them. Canada brings some good things to the table. I also feel like he's a safe pick.

I'm calling B-I-N-G-O on this.

Regardless of the negativity around Coach Tomlin, the team's overall draft results have been astonishing. My Bama homerism are about to shine, but if we can SOMEHOW pick up Najee Harris at 1/24 and then come back and get Landon Dickerson at C. That's the start of something special. Yes, we'll still need a LT and possibly another OG but it's a great start...

I was literally watching Alabama film last night. I’m probably going to have one of the higher grades Dickson you’ll see. I’ve been high on Harris since last year. I actually thought he’d of come out last year and he’d probably be that late first round he likely is this year.

I'm not a big college draft scout guy, but from the couple games I watched and from what I've read & heard, I'd need a change of shorts if that happened. As in yes, please.

If Fairlane is on board, I know you're onto something.

Are you youtubing games or going to a site? One site I watched games in went down. Anyone with some good links would be appreciated.

You always get great perspectives looking at highlights and lowlight ratger than the total body of work ...
Oh yeah I hear that is a great way of draft evaluating. That and looking at their 40 times and head size.

Ford, you know well enough Cowher didn't care about the QB position 13 of the 15 years he was in Pitt. His bread and butter on offense was his rushing attack. His offense was a perennial top 5 in rushing. I think he may have had only one or two years outside of the top 10 Rushing offenses during his tenure, and he had Bettis for 10 of those years and Parker for 3 for those rushing attacks. I know we were almost last in rushing that one year with the Tommy Gun offense. His philosophy was always attacking Defense and ball control offense. He wanted game managers for QBs. Even with Ben during his first two years they lead with a ball control offense including the SB XL run. With the exception of Ray Sherman and Kevin Gilbride, all his offenses were based on the Ron Ernhardt scheme...ball control rushing with play action. So Cowher may not have had a pure franchise QB, but he sure had a franchise RB. Which is the opposite of Tomlin, has had a franchise QB, but never a franchise RB.

Cowher not caring about QB position 13/15 years?

I know bullshit when I smell it and right now I’m knee deep in it.

Not having a franchise QB doesn’t equal not wanting one. And if you can find a single QB besides Drew Brees that the Steelers passed on between the end of O’Donnell & the drafting of Ben who was a legitimate franchise QB, I’ll concede. Please... go.... look...

There once was a lot of belief in Kordell Stewart (1997) and they really had high hopes for him. Dan Rooney even said Heinz Field will be the house that Kordell built. But they were wrong.

Cowher tried coaxing Dan Marino to Pittsburgh in 2000.

2002 Tommy Maddox was so good that Cowher tried to recreate the Rams formula with Warner....except he forgot Famous Amos Z was no Marshall Faulk. But he really tried to open it up.

The moment he got a true Franchise QB... he only accomplished the longest winning streak, best record in team history and he won the Super Bowl, so..... it’s more accurate to say he did best he could with his QBs vs. not caring about one

I don't know about the bill cowher caring about qbs or not but isn't it part of the steelers/big ben mythology now that cowher didn't want ben he wanted the big offensive lineman from Arkansas?? imagine had cowher had his way, no 17 years years of big ben?? they should do a SNL parity of Big Ben (will Ferrell) jumping off a bridge after a 5 pick playoff game, titled "it could have been a wonderful career". Big Ben and Pittsburgh have had a pretty marriage where both side benefited for the most part, but like all marriages its coming to an end. id clean house starting with GM and HC myself but what the Rooneys do who knows... but as quarterbacks go, well see in the Hall of fame Ben thanks for the Lombardi's and the memories!!!
