The offices are generally busy as some coaches are packing up their stuff and others are simply cleaning out their offices for the off-season.

HCMVLT is sitting at his desk, aimlessly shuffling through papers, which if inspected carefully would consist entirely of scratch paper with various "tied" tic-tac-toe games.

(knock knock) Hey, Mike it's me, Randy. Rough way to end a season, but man we had a run goin' didn't we? (HCMLVT looks up blankly, his eyes wide and unblinking, although at the sight of Fichtner, they do begin furtively darting to the left and right.)

(Randy) Anyway, I was just getting ready to uh figure some stuff out. I uh. Well funny thing is, "officially" my contract is pretty much up. So I guess we need to uh... (HCMLVT suddenly grabs his phone and puts it to his ear and begins responding to discussion from the other end of the phone.) Uh. Mike? Are we extending my contract or...

(HCMLVT looks up at Randy and seems as though he notices him for the first time. He covers the mouthpiece of the phone and mouths to Fichtner "On Phone" and goes back to listening to the other end of the conversation.)

(Randy), Ya. Um The thing is, I just need to know what I should do. (the loud "busy signal" sound begins to emanate from the earpiece of the phone. HCMLVT ignores this and points to his ear on the phone and makes a "sorry" face.

Randy stands there dumbly for a minute, unsure what his next move should be. Tomlin after a moment or two covers the mouthpiece again and says "Can you come back tonight around 6:30?" Fichtner, happy to have some direction, nods and heads out.

Upon his return to the team facilities at 6:30 he discovers that the doors are locked and it seems his key no longer works. Upon trying to reach HCMLVT the call goes directly to voicemail.

And he was neeeeever heeeard from agaaaaaaaaain...

When was the last time one of our coaches have been fired vs just letting their contract expire?

Mike better get used to this scenario, cause it will be him after next season. Next year will be hard to watch any more Tomlin after that and I'm taking a vacation from this team till he is gone.

I retired at the end of 15. Frankly, I felt stupid watching the stupidity. Haven't watched a game since. Check the scores sometimes, but that's it. Look's like they've drafted a few good kids. Not like that'll move any needles.

It's understandable that Artie is satisfied with 8/8 because even if the wildcard opponent forfeited, the Steelers would spot them 21-28 and lose after a 'furious comeback'. And now that the stadium is empty, what's the point?

Even when they fire a coach they usually let them retire instead... i think Ray Sherman was fired and I am pretty sure cowher axed Mularkey and Tim Lewis as tgey were interviewing for head coaching positions....

I think the Steelers usually extend the Head Coach with 2 years left on their contract, well Tomlin has this coming season and the 2022 season is a club option, curious to see if he gets an extension this off-season.

Well SteelerSask, that is your decision but stop in here once in awhile and let us know how you are doing. I like your input and knowledge along the way. PeAce
