Rudolph to Start, Roethlisberger will Rest

People most remember Rudolph's last two starts where he was absolutely terrible against the Browns and Bengals.

Though there was not much consistency, he flashed talent early and the season and actually looked really good late in the year when he replace Hodges for a few series against the Jets before getting hurt.

I'm not expecting much, but I'm curious to see how he does.

I think you dress Dobbs. Make Ben inactive no reason for him to even be dressed if the plan is to sit him.

I'm telling you -- Tomlin should dress Ben up in a headset and a baseball cap, and make him the offensive coordinator for the game. What's the downside?

There's still time to end the Sphincter Experiment! Before it's too late!

That would be hilarious, welcomed, but Steelernation would lose it. I am concerned come the playoffs the guy is going to dig a hole the team can't get out of.

Rudolph is 5-3 as a starter. Would have beaten the Ravens if he doesn't get brained.

Looking forward to seeing him play.

Agreed, hopefully Fitchner gives him a gameplan that gives him a fair chance. He doesn't have the chops to start running no huddle and call his own plays like Ben

There are also scenarios where moving up to the 2nd seed would give us the Ravens first game, while avoiding them by staying at #3.

Why are we scared of the rats ??? If you Remeber right we beat them both times. The first time they had two weeks to prepare for us and the second time they ****** up our everything as far as schedule goes.

We play who is put infront of us and Rats / or whome ever we will face and beat, that's why they play the game............

Best outcome for browns game is Steelers are healthier after the game than before and the cheating ravens get eliminated from the playoffs. With no 2 seed bye 3 seed is not much different. Rest Ben Connor pouncey decastro Truitt Hayward watts fitz. No wr deserves a rest, hell they are all kids. As far as Rudolph goes, he’s a backup or a starter on a bad team , not the future. Concerning the play calling the o line cannot run block, like it or not this is a passing team. We need about 50 from Connor. If Ben is allowed to mixin no huddle and he hits his share of stretch passes down the field and outside the hashes and our d wins turnover battle we will be competitive in playoffs. Go Steelers!

My take is that Mason is okay when he has to step in in the middle of a game for an injured Ben but when he knows he's playing and has all week to prepare and think about it then he's not so good.

We shall see!

So Ben isn't " fine " and we are backing into the #3 seed with the Ravens being likely for the playoffs.

What a moron. “Backing into a 3 seed” so says the narcissistic naysayer. It doesn’t matter if we are the 2 or 3 seed, they will play a team they’ve already played. either BAL, CLE, TEN or IND. It will be a miracle for MIA to beat BUF if the weather is as bad to be expected.

Not trying to predict or not but it stands to reason that REDnose should be better. He has had time to get over KNOCK OUT injury by the headshot Thomas gave him. Also time heals and he's probably got a little distance from the helmet incident and will be more focused on his play.

Fichtner has the biggest stake in how Mason looks so direct some of it towards him.

Weak ar.m, slow processor and heavy footed. Would rather see Dobbs.

Huge difference in being a 2 seed. You get the first 2 playoff games at HOME should Tomlin finally win a playoff game.

Not this year. There are no fans. There is no home field advantage in 2020. In fact, the lack of fans has caused problems for audibles and on field communications. Both teams hear each other’s cadence and protection calls much easier than ever before.

Really, you want t go to Buffalo and play in the ice, snow an wind, OK got it.

Instead of playing here with probably no fans in the ice, wind, and snow... who really cares?

Buffalo is going to have 7,000 fans for the playoffs, not a huge difference but it's a crowd.

They better not sell any tickets, Steelers fans would gobble that up quicker than you can blink.

With that, since PA governor follows everything NY does.. I suspect we have fans too.

why exactly do you say this? backing into the playoffs would be losing a game but getting in because others win the games you need them to.

this is more like resting the most important player on the team and not risking a fluke injury

We already got whipped there and if you think you can compare mid January weather in buffalo to Pittsburgh ou are badly mistaken.

And its so unprecedented too...like teams that have locked in a playoff spot dont do this all of the time.
