TJ Better win this thing this year. He should have won last year but It’s just unfortunate he gets no love from the Pittsburgh media which is absolute trash. They can’t talk enough about other team’s great players especially Donald. When it comes to TJ, nothing. Hell, I think I’ve heard more great things about Bud than TJ in the Pittsburgh media. I guess it’s good they say something good about one of the team’s players but Bud isn’t on TJ’s level.

I would say 3/4ths of the idiots within Pittsburgh sports doesn’t even want Steelers to win. They love writing the articles bashing the players at all costs, particularly Ben.

TJ is a machine. Without him on that side and Heyward doing the dirty work the steelers would be getting shredded on defense right now.As with James Harrison even holding him all game long still doesn't stop his impact. There must be some unwritten rule that if a LB is unblockable in rushing the passer that you're allowed to hold him. If they actually called the holds more than just the token make it look good call, not many offenses would be able to function at all. You have a handful of guys around the league on this level. They're unblockable, Watt is in that group. The snub has nothing to do with his talent or accomplishments.

Bud was pretty good. Bush was just starting make his way. Hell Spillane blew my mind with his play. I really didn't know the guy until he was starting.

I don't even pay attention to the media anymore. That's pretty much all of them.Having a big mouth made for creating "content" ir stirring up **** will never win or lose anything for the team. Just like these meaningless Power Rankings they post up every week.

Watt is a beast and should be a lock for DPOY. He is still doing what he does without Bud and with 2 of our top 3 ILB's. Our LB group has been decimated and even our line has had injuries throughout the year. Watt is the one player that absolutely makes it all happen. His numbers back up his play. In fact, he could have 20 sacks. What sucks is that this week in Cleveland, they should sit him which will hurt his numbers. Then again, Tomlin probably won't rest the starters.

gilmore was a joke of a pick last year. TJ should easily win this year

Burt Lauton I believe it was from the Steelers put out on twitter his stats and that he leads the NFL is sacks, TFL, and QB hits.

Bouchette said there's 38 voters in the AP and none are from Pittsburgh. There was a guy for one of these sites like PFF, but he wasn't with PFF that said he wouldn't be shocked if Donald got it again, just because he's Aaron Donald.

everytime I watch TJ play, the first thought is; "He's gonna get paid!"

Rarely, do I see him take a play off. When he's not out there, you can tell.

He saved a TD or a huge gain by the Colts RB, can't remember which one, when he grabbed the ball, the video from above is on twitter, the RB probably scores or Minkah might run him down by they'd have been deep in our territory, can't remember if the score was 24-21 or we were trying to hold onto the lead then.

he caused the fumble that Hilton scooped up on Rivers. That helped turn the tide. Huge play.

WATT clearly out shined Gilmore by a distance and still wasn't picked. Is WATT out distancing the second place candidate by a more distance than Gilmore last year????

CLEARLY TJ WATT deserves DPOY but reality is he may not win it, a travesty if that happens. In the NFL nothing is reality and all is the whim of the rog. Don't think for a minute he doesn't influence these voters as last year was proof, buddy "hand job" bob's player got it.

yeah definitely, I brought up that other play because it won't show up on the stats sheet.

It's a crime if he's not DPOY this season:
He leads the NFL in sacks with 15, Donald is second with 13.5
He leads the NFL in TFL with 23 Roquan Smith is second with 17, Donald has 12
He leads the NFL in QB hits with 41, Carl Lawson is second with 31, Donald has 26

4 games without Bud, he has 4 sacks, 8 QB hits, 7TFL

Good points. I think Watt should get it. Don't sleep on X. Howard, who has 9 INT's this year.

Xavien Howard is the new Gilmore this year. Tons of INTs and currently at 9. My problem with CBs getting this award is they have games with ZERO stats. He had 3 games with zero impact. He has 19 PDs (9 of those PDs are INTs) so 10PDs and 9INTS and 1 FF those are his stats. no sacks, no pressures, no TFLs, so giving a DPOY award on one stat line is bullshit. It was bullshit last year with Gilmore, when he knew what plays were being called, and it would be bullshit this year.

And FYI, Watt has 7 PDs...

I work with an NFL referee and asked him about holding. He said the bar has been raised on what they call as holding this year. The overall number of holding calls has gone down this year. After seeing TJ in a choke hold from Sunday I finally asked him the question. I was surprised I got a direct answer. He's usually pretty non-committal about these subjects.

well, they are certainly not consistent, as usual. Some are blatant and called, some are blatant and are let go.

I said the samething last year and I'll say the same this year, Watt makes plays at every level of the defense, behind the LOS, at the LOS, beyond the LOS. He makes plays vs the run and vs the pass

The epitome of a DPOY. Which means that corner mentioned will get the award. Watt already made it known he wants a SB victory anyways. He can get us that.[emoji16]

TJ should be a lock for DPOY this year but I'm not gonna hold my breath. He has been consistently Great on a very good defense that has kept the team in the playoff hunt all year in spite of an anemic offense. Never takes a play off, 110% all the time and has the stats to prove it.

So what's the general consensus around the league for who the DPOY is? You look at those stat lines and its a no-brainer to me, but I'm biased.

Obviously.
