Wanted to share my three encounters with probably my fave Steeler of all time.

I grew up in New York and was a Steeler fan since 1974
Don’t know why but I never had a real authentic jersey, wasn’t sure who to get.
1993 and we sign KG who I always thought was a special player with the Rams. BAM there was my jersey!

1994: I get tickets for Giant/Steeler game in Giants stadium,it’s lightly raining the whole game but I wear my new jersey proudly!
After the game I go to where the players come out and try to get past this ginormous guard at the entrance, he stops me from walking by first time but some how I manage to sneak by him and get to stand inside the stadium.
I was standing there talking with two girls with Bam Morris jerseys on waiting for him to come out as the players slowly come out on there own time.
I remember Coach Cowher walking by also Ron Earhardt and Yancy Thigpen.

Then it happened I was talking to the two girls with my back to where people were walking out and all of a sudden I hear “Hey nice jersey man!”
I whirl around and behind me it’s the man,Kevin Greene!
I quickly find some one with a marker and ask him to sign my jersey and he signs it K Greene 91 on the 9 in the back.
I’m in heaven as I get back to the car but alas my jersey being saturated from the rain the signature was just a big blob[emoji53]

1995: I get tickets for opening day in TRS and drive to Pittsburgh.
After the game I go and find where the players come out and here comes Kevin to greet fans although there is a line I run right up front and greet him saying “hey remember me” he says he does, whether he does or just being kind I don’t really care, again he signs my jersey K Greene 91.
This time on the front 9 IN PEN!

1996: a month or two after the super bowl there a autograph signing session in New Jersey with Greg Lloyd,Kordell Stewart,Rod Woodson and Kevin. My friend and I drive over.
Me, not wanting to pay for any autographs just stood in line with my friend to meet the players.
My buddy was a Lloyd fanatic had a lithograph of him tattooed on his upper arm, when we met Lloyd my buddy asked if he can show him the tattoo, Lloyd says “ As long as the picture ain’t on yo butt?” The whole crownd breaks out laughing!
We meet the others and for the final time I meet Kevin, he’s cool and nice as ever and said again the he remembered me.

2005: we are 7-5 and not playing the best football
especially on D.I pull out my signed jersey that I hadn’t worn since the Super Bowl loss and we don’t lose another game!

Today I will wear said jersey in tribute for rest of season,Will it’s magic work again?! Prolly not but a guy can dream eh?

Sorry post was so long but I just had to share

R.I.P. Mr Greene!
You’ll always be a legend in this guys eyes!

Great story. Brings back memories of waiting outside Three Rivers to get autographs and pics. I remember getting my pic with Mean Joe and Mike Webster.

I have fond memories of waiting outside to catch players on the way in on game day. I waited all morning for Bubby but met Louis Lipps, Gary Anderson, Eric Greene, Tunch and Wolfley. All were gracious and were happy to sign an autograph. They beat a Steve Grogan led Patriot team that day. As a kid- it helped make the Steeler fan I am today.

Thank you for sharing your Kevin Green story

So glad you eventually found your way back here PC a year or two ago. When I see your name it always brings back so many memories from the early 00s.

Awesome story about KG. He was always my dad's favorite. So many memories of those 90s defenses with KG and Lloyd. Those defenses made me a Steelers fan for life.

Everyone bring out their Sunday best today. We need it. I'm rocking my Woodson jersey.

You said it brother. At half I put on my ol #58 Jack Lambert long sleeved T-shirt my brother had made for me years ago. Mimiced the Jack Daniels bottle. That in addition to the Greene jerseys and the proper fermenting time of the Steeler Chili led to the Stonewalling of the Colts offense and ultimately a Steelers WIN!!! Never discount the Mojo!! ;)

Of course I am being serious and the Steelers had nothing to do with the comeback.

I did make my lucky hot wings this week. Didn't have time to make them last week.

I think us fans got a little slack over the past three weeks with Christmas an all. Just need to keep the Mojo going for another 4 weeks.

Another possibility is that we may have all gotten on with our inner Cowher at half and willed the team back to playing Steeler Football

K next week you know what needs to be done.
Also yesterday, swear to God, I put every Terrible Towel in the house (5) in the wash.
