I was griping after the Monday debacle about an undersized Allen over UGIII at linebacker. Guess I got my reason today as he heads back to IR. On what one of the three snaps he got or some special teams. This guy cannot stay healthy. Is it his back again? Sorry dude, you cannot play pro football with back trouble created by the limited amount he has played. Move on time.

They try to develop depth as it is needed now with Covid more than ever. But yep can't help the team from the hot tub.

Allen actually played pretty well especially considering he switched positions. Although a little undersized, dude is fast and more than willing to hit/tackle. Hopefully, he continues to improve. He played ILB and was outside covering WR's in last weeks game.

Gilbert was an exciting late-round pick with his athletic ability and he began to flash last preseason. Too bad he can't stay on the field because he would've had plenty of opportunities to get on the field this year. For his sake, I hope he isn't battling with chronic issues.

It's his ankle this time. Regardless he can't stay healthy. I don't think he will be back in 2021.

Injuries definately are a part of the game and team needs are a high priority causing some players to be left behind upon injury. The STEELERS do a pretty good job of deciphering extent of injuries along the way. I don't know of to many players that have gone on to have exceptional careers once released from STEELERS due to injury. I know a few went on to play but not to make one feel we lost out on something. Rod Woodson change positions but left due to contract if I Remeber correct.

I feel for these guys giving it their all yet get injured repeatedly so as not to contribute and then ultimately waved. Conner is creeping into this land of wonder...........

Rod wanted to stay at corner Steelers saw a need to move to S. That played into the equation. Obviously a corner is usually bringing in more cha ching.

What if I told you that there is only a difference of 13 pounds and 2 inches in height between Gilbert and Allen? OH, and Allen is actually the taller player.

Gilbert is listed at 6'0" and 239 lbs.
Allen is listed at 6'2" and 216 lbs

Allen has the frame to carry more weight. I think with an off season hitting the weights and training for LB rather than S, he could develop into a nice backup/situational player. Anything else is icing. I'm hoping for the icing. Could you imagine having a LB with the height and speed to cover RB's/TE's and the aggressiveness to stick his nose in the pile on running plays?

239-216 = 13?

ya might wanna check that.

Allen only needs to add 9-10 pounds. if he adds 10-15 pounds, he's the same listed size as Shazier. If he can keep his speed... talk about finding and honing a gem.

Ilb was one of our thinest positions and now its crap... we probably need to sign someone off a practice squad or something... this is really bad...

Allen is ruled out for tomorrow. Scales signed from practice squad.

Allen was fine making tackles but couldn't shed or cut through the trash. He played linebacker like a DB. It wasn't good. They should have brought Edmunds down to help but Tomlin is too stupid.
