He can be just as bad as Ben throwing the ball, but at least he will be able to use his mobility to make a few really great plays each game. He brings what this team is lacking and currently will not even be a downgrade in the passing game. He should jump Mason on the depth chart who brings no upgrade over bad Ben, and just let him run around and mess with teams who aren’t prepared for him.

Here's the problem. Ben played exactly 1 quarter of productive football last night. The other 3 quarters were zilch. And his stat line was still as good or better than anything Mason or Dobbs will give you in a full game. Last year when Ben was out 170 yards and a TD were as good as you were going to get out of either Duck or Mason.

^^^THIS^^^

The Steelers have no legitimate back-up plan for Ben, and with our lack of any real running game and on OL that is getting abused week in and week out, anyone that you put back there right now is going to get abused.

LMAO, the favorite player in Pittsburgh is always the back-up QB.

Nah screw Mason.. I want the 3rd guy! He is the only one that has the additional dimension of mobility. They are all equally bad passers right now so use the one who can make plays another way! If nothing else it will mess with defenses who are preparing for a statue QB with bad accuracy and decision making

Better idea, go play Madden and pretend that Dobbs is an NFL QB.

Dobbs is an accurate QB? where's the NFL film on that?

I wonder if Paul Blake is available. He's kinda old, but he skipped college to work the family farm, so his arm should be well rested.

Yeah, Dobbs has pretty much proven that he isn't the answer. His completion percentage never really got much over 50%. I agree with one thing however, we need to be looking for a mobile QB. Thats the way the league is trending and I don't want to see another "franchise" QB who is basically a statue under center. The league has passed us by in that regard.

Exactly. My point is not “we could win with Dobbs” obviously that is not true. My point is “these last 3 painstaking losses we are about to take will be much more fun watching Dobbs run around than it would be watching Ben go out like this”

Why not? If the **** fits wear it.

Maybe we can win the ******* Division first?

Would be nice but losing to the Skins and Bengals don't give me much confidence in that happening. You never know what will happen though, maybe they will wake up and get healthy.

The next Steelers QB is not on the roster. The back ups have proven to be trash.

No wonder Bradshaw hated Pittsburgh, you ******* turn on people faster and harder than any teams fans I've ever seen. Ridiculous...

Oh please. It’s a business and we’ve closed our eyes and unconditionally backed Ben for 17 seasons. Time to admit he’s complicit in helping to kill the team this year

Ya OBVIOUSLY ride it out with the pedigree

But at this point why not put Ben and his “knee” on the injury report as questionable and at least let Dobbs go vs the Colts and let Ben rest up a week (or two if he should beat the Colts).

I truly don’t get why the game plan week after week is to throw 50+ times with an old man coming off major surgery...brilliant

Because our OL can't run block to save their own life, James Conner is a china doll that cannot stay healthy, and our play calling is abysmal and predictable just off of the personnel and formations. So, it's up to Ben to try and cover for our coaching staff for another year.

If we were 3-11, sure I might buy that bullshit excuse. But we're 11-3, and Ben was certainly a key cog in getting us to 11 wins. Ben has a bad game and all of a sudden he's washed up, old, injured, time to move on...

Sure didn't look washed up in the third quarter, if it hadn't been for **** play calling when we got into the redzone on our second drive, the game might have turned out differently. That FG didn't exactly take the momentum away from Cinci, if anything it gave them confidence that they could hold us off.

Randy F is the biggest issue with this team right now, followed by a bevy of injuries at KEY positions. No one is talking about the fact we still played TWO different players at LG during the game. Not sure who 77 (Derwin Gray?) was, but he was certainly better than JC Hassenauer. But neither are as good as Dotson, who still has room to improve.

I saw some improvements, for one I saw DeCastro pulling again, same with Pouncey...Randy just needs to understand who is in the backfield. We should never be running a wide sweep with Snell, he's never going to be able to turn the corner unless our OL absolutely demolishes the defense
