Why bring tomlin back???

I think its all the Tomlinisims and platitudes that only go so far when you are trying to motivate a team. The new guys get all wide eyed for awhile but the veterans are like ya ya ya....

I am just sooo tired of it.....For god sakes this started when he unleashed hell over a decade ago, and since then its been nothing but disappointment.

Unless you are counting winning seasons.

This year will make it FIVE seasons since we have won a playoff game and that was against backup QBs , Matt Moore and AJ McCarron in the Burfcit meltdown gift game.

Tomlin told a reporter before the game tonight to give him the hat and t-shirt tonight as if the division was already in hand.

We're seeing the third consecutive collapse in the second half of the season.

The Steelers went 2-4 after starting 7-2-1 in 2018.

They went 0-3 after an 8-5 start in 2019.

Currently, they're in the process of the worst collapse an 11-0 team has ever experienced.

I'm tired of excuses being made for Tomlin. He sucks.

I honestly have no ******* clue how he has won as much as he has.

He has had a 1st ballot HOF QB bailing his *** out since he got here.

Despite playing wr in college, Tomlin is a defensive coach...he is calling tge defense and righted tge ship there last season when it proved too big for butler to handle.... and thats fine...

But typically you mach offensive head coaches with really good Dcs and defensive coaches with really good OC’s

The best Oc Tomlin has had was Haley... and that guy was probably too conservative

Ba was completely one dimensional and RF it utterly one dimensional... it doesn’t make any sense

Like I said in the other thread Tomlins run of non losing seasons with Cowhers top 5 QB is just about over.

Seriously, there should have been at least 2-3 more SB appearances and #7 in the case with all the talent that has come and gone the last 10 years.

Its fixing to get rite ugly from here on out...

It is not an excuse for Tomlin. He isn't playing. He is not throwing lousy passes. The QB stinks. The league has caught up to what they were doing, and the QB cannot adjust. Ben has been there every year except 2019 that Tomlin has been. He is a constant too.

Ben is playing PAST his expiration date, in hopes of winning it all. The problem with that is that you need a HC with the ability to tailor things so that Ben, with diminishing skills, is not required to carry the load singlehandedly. It is understandable that Ben wanted to return and play again, but sometimes you have to thank people for their contributions, and move on. ESPECIALLY when their pay kills your chance of keeping younger talent.

It sucks to see the end of the line for Ben, just like it did for The Bus, Ward, Harrison, Webster, Lambert, Bradshaw, Harris.........
. The end always comes, no matter how hard you try to ignore the signs. Ben could have done well in his twilight years, if only he wasn’t required to shoulder the whole load due to his contract numbers. In a supporting role he may have gotten a couple more years, but not like this.

Don't forget a few years was taken from Ben when he got the HELL beat out of him because they couldn't figure out how to draft and build an Oline to protect him...

I tell you what he did do. He allowed a team that basically could not pass to run the ball. He put a large safety on the field against a team that wouldn't pass. Yes Ben turned over the ball 2 times. Is it not the goal of the defense to dominate a team on its third QB. Did they have to give up TD's. Did they have to give up a TD drive when the score was 17-10 and the Steelers had the momentum.
Defensive Coaching 101 states this . Take away what they want to do and force them to do what they do not. Would you say this defensive game plan reflected that?

You’re preaching to the choir.

The feelings about this team have become like too much in this country, an either/or.

Fire Tomlin. I would be fine with that. But you can't just do that and not address other issues. And one of the big issues in my opinion is that the QB is an issue, and has been for many years. They rarely move the pocket. They are always in that damn pistol. They lack creativity. You can fool yourself if you want, but this offense looks this way because the QB gets to dictate what he likes.

If I was to hire a new coach, that coach would have the authority to tell Ben, if he comes back, that the offense will be run the way the new coach wants it. If Ben doesn't like it, or can't do it, he can retire or be a backup. I might even bring a real threat in as a backup. Look, on some level that is what happened in Green Bay. The new coach came in, clipped Rodgers wings just a bit, drafted Jordan Love this year and took charge.

But you all don't seem to want that, You feel this need to defend Ben at every turn and excuse his subpar play. He has been a great player and I appreciate him. But I said many years ago that his career is going to be looked at a lot like Brett Favres career...a feeling of a lot of missed opportunities. And I think partly because they both had to have their own damn way all the time.

Ben isn't done. Does he need a OL to give him more than 2 seconds? Yes. Does he need something to resemble a running game? Sure. Does he need WRs/TEs to catch passes? Yes.

30 TDs 10 INTs is not a sign of being done. He needs HELP.

Your post makes no sense. You're blaming Ben for having too much control.. how is that Ben's fault? Blame the Rooneys'.

How many of those 30 Td passes were dump offs,3 yard passes or de facto running plays with the behind the line of scrimmage shuffle pass ? The eyes don't lie and the horrendous yards per completion and yards per attempt show a mediocre at very best QB as we speak. Blake Bortles threw 35 TD passes one year and Lamar threw 36 TD passes last year, Ben has never thrown that many in a season . Do you think those guys are good QBs ?

He will be back, as the injury bug gets him ANOTHER pass.

that is EXACTLY what I said. HOW do you plan to get him that help? What do you pay that help with?

Its really this. Mike Tomlin is not an X's and O's guy. thinking he might be is laughable. He is a good leader of men. Though there is some argument to be made about ****** tic tok videos and useless TE's talking about SB airplanes. But if you yourself are not an x and o genius it really comes down to your position coaches and Coordinators. So after 14 years what exactly is Mike Tomlin's coaching tree. Bruce Arians? He was coaching football before Tomlin left his dad's nut sac. They have a total of zero other coaches role through this team in 14 ****** years get a head coaching gig somewhere else or even develop into a top coordinator somewhere else and then an HC.
So despite his super awesome at least 8 wins resume, no team has ever been interested in a Steelers coach. Chew on that for a while.

That's fine. Blame the Rooneys. Blame Tomlin. I don't care who takes the blame. You all can dick around and choose who to blame.

All I know is it has to change. It should have changed years ago. Hell, maybe its too late now.

Again, damn, he has been a great player. We are going to miss him when he is done. But if you don't think he is part of the problem with them not winning more over the years and now, you are just not in reality. I think a player can be the reason they win and they reason they lose all at the same time.

So? I don't even know what that means. It would make sense if Belechick assistants were tearing it up, but they have failed for the most part.

How many got jobs? Why is no one even interested in anyone connected with the Steelers? Belichick doesn't need others to handle the x's and o's. He does it himself.. But lets be clear here. Belichick owns Tomlin. Mike Tomlin couldn't even be a coordinator or probably position coach on Belichick's staff. Maybe an intern.

You think Butler or Fichtner get picked up by any teams if they were fired? Lol **** no. The only reason I can figure out to why either of them are still coaches on this staff is cause Tomlin doesn't want anyone smarter than him on the staff.

100% accurate. You take Dick Lebeau off the last SB team you know how many SB's this team has. 5. Now Lebeau was getting old. I will give you that. But if you put the kinda talent this team has had the last couple years and you are not having this **** happening. The ****** QB wouldn't even know where they were coming from.

Our offensive scheme / play calling is terrible. We are almost constantly in the shotgun and it is just not working. That is on Tomlin. We were playing a team that cant pass and we fail to load up to stop the run. That is also on Tomlin. Ben was definitely off tonight, but the scheme is just not helping out. Just look at our last drive. Plenty of time and instead of trying to move the chains we resort to chuck and pray. If your going to lose at least try something different. I love how all the talking heads are like if anyone can fix it Tomlin can.....Im like WTF have they been watching. All Tomlin does is spit out ridiculous babble.

The talking heads don't spend much time dissecting the Steeers they look at win and loss records and bullshit accordingly.
