He is not a Steeler.

Never got into alt rock. Pretty much all I listened to in high school was Iron Maiden and The Doors -- not a very common combination. Ironically, a friend of mine introduced me to Too $hort when I was in the Army, and I loved it!

alt rock is an alternative to good music....that **** sucked

As a collective whole yes. But there was some good music in the albeit not a lot. Soundgarden and Alice and Chains come to mind.

Ha, had a buddy who got me into Too $hort as well - "$horty the pimp, he walks with a limp!"

And love The Doors. American Prayer fan? I've found I get mixed reactions from others but I loved it.

"Pimpology" is my personal favorite.

"Pimpology...a pimp's profession
Can't be affected by the Great Depression"

lol

And, yes, I'm a huge fan of An American Prayer. Loved the way they wrote some of the music in later to mesh with Morrison's poetry.

yeah they come to mind and they fall into the alternative to good music.....that **** and the ******* grunge rock bullshit ******* SUCKED

**** nirvana, if that dumb **** hadn't killed himself no one would remember them.

one of the few groups I've found listenable since the early 80's is Disturbed...their song The Vengeful One sounds like what I would have cranked up full blast in my car when I was in high school

Smashing Pumpkins, Pearl Jam, STP, Pixies, Weezer, RATM, The Shins, Built to Spill etc.

Too many good ones to list IMO. Coolie missed out while listening to Bon Jovi.

I consider those groups more mainstream than most alt rock, and I do love some of their music as well.

Yep. If I hear "Awake, shake dreams from your hair..." I'm hooked and it's over. Have to listen to the whole tracklist, no distractions.

Soundgarden had three songs peak at #2 on the Billboard 100 charts, and several more in the top ten -- that's pretty "mainstream," bro.

Oh, and blame Steelworth, btw. lol

Actually I'd rather talk music than re-hash that Sunday night debacle.

OK, you got me thinking -- next year my signature will be something off of that album. :thumb:

"Pretty Noose" kicks ***, man. Give it another chance.

Still worthless. Oh, and how could I forget Radiohead!?

I know you like them some because you had a Thom Yorke quote in your sig forever, topseed.

,

Only you would remember that..lol. I change it once every football season, though.

It's nice to know that even though the Steelers got their ***** kicked and are not playing well right now, we can still argue or agree about other stuff. The good news is, I still think they can beat the Bengals.

Good night, men!

Alternative music has a ton of mainstream play. That doesn't take it out of the alternative music tag/label. Alternative music was very popular with the younger generation which is pretty much the definition of mainstream. "Mainstream music refers to music that is familiar to and popular with the majority of people in their culture." So it can fall under both labels it doesn't have to be one or the other.

I liked and saw most of the bands you list but imo Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, STP, etc. rocked! Hey, I also like me some CSNY, Dan Fogelberg, Bread, etc. Now Bon Jovi always sucked **** as far as I'm concerned.

Smashing Pumpkins sucked balls...the lead singer sounds like he's in the middle of pushing out a monster turd, red faced and bulging vein on his forehead.

they should have taken alice's chains, tied all those ****** groups up and dumped them in the ocean

:playful: My memory with certain things is pretty ******* good. With other things, not so much. It's almost as if it's a bit selective or something.

It's nice to know that even though the Steelers got their ***** kicked and are not playing well right now, we can still argue or agree about other stuff.

Absolutely. Maybe talking music 24/7 would heal this country a little bit and teach us a couple things; you can be different and have different ideas about things and **** with each other and completely disagree - and still be civil, appreciate another's individuality and laugh a little at ****. Life is Too $hort (you feel me dawg, lol). Did you ever listen to A Tribe Called Quest? Talented hip hop artists.

Now that was just funny. Mornin' sunshine.
