This loss is on TOMLIN

Tomlin is not necessarily a bad football coach. He’s very much like a Marty Schottenheimer type. He is able to take a team with good or better talent and get the team to perform at a better than average level during the regular season. Clock management and scheme adjustments have always been an issue for his teams. Losses to poor or inferior teams and an inability to solve some opposing schemes in big games have also been a problem over 13 years. He was able to win one Super Bowl very early with a hand me down team and staff, but since then the arrow has been pointing down. This might be what the Cowboys would have looked like had Barry Switzer been allowed to stay on for 13 years with that team.

You have to adapt when **** is no longer working. Plan B,C,D. We don't have that. It's pretty much set in stone each game. I don't understand it.

Tomlin's in game coaching is calling TO's which he's terrible at. Throwing the challenge flag, equally terrible and missed out on a forced fumble last night cause of it. Last but not least, fist pumping on the sideline when a play is made.. if someone can tell me anything else, I'd like to hear it.

Oh shut the **** up already. Thread after thread after thread. Your dumb **** is getting old. We get it you hate Tomlin. Find something else to talk about.

This is hilarious considering 90% of your posts are just you following Coach around to talk ****.

He's so far up your *** 24/7, whispering sweet nothings about players he's pimped into your ear...I think you're in love. It's okay to admit it, loverboy, it's 2020. Cope can host a virtual ceremony for you on the podcast.

I am no Tomlin fanboy, but tge defense is much of his doing... he and butler modified the front 7 pass rush into the magnificent pressure cooker you see now

He deserves a lot of credit for that.... x’s and o’s credit... its legitimatly original stuff... they tweaked the dline duties in a 3/4...

Well then he deserves a lot of blame for lack of adjustments. Particularly, the past 2 weeks when the defense gets worked the 2nd half. Tomlin gets credit when the defense is playing great, no blame when things look like ****.. that is my issue. When the defense gets shredded, it's on Butler according to the media and a lot of Steelers fans.

The problem is, when we face better teams and our pressure cooker defense cannot get to the QB, you have to be able to adjust. How many years have we watched our LB's running 2 yards behind a receiver in man coverage. You can get away with it when you are getting pressure on the QB, but if the QB has 3-4 seconds to read and react...you get big completions. Last night, when Buffalo went to max protect and Cam and Watt were not getting to the QB, you saw the results of asking our secondary to have to cover someone. That is my gripe with Tomlin's defense, it is a one trick pony and when it's not effective teams move up and down the field on us with ease.

I get it Zach, but I'm not also one to bash Steeler fans for opposing views and you know it. I'm more interested in finding ways to right this ship, than to point at the holes as it's sinking.

He is simply another Tomlin hater that dislikes anyone who doesn't follow suit. His idea of righting the ship is fire Tomlin. A good argument could be made that Randy is the one deserving of being shown the door.

Tomlin has had 13 years at the helm, most of which he had benefited from an all-star cast of players and a HOF QB. During that time, it can easily be argued that his teams have under-performed in the postseason. Even in the Super Bowl years, one win, one loss, there was under-performance. If not for James Harrison single-handedly swinging the first SB game by 14 points, that one would also be in question. The Cardinals were no powerhouse that year, but the team struggled in that game. How about the 2017 season, which saw the Jaguars come to Heinz in bitter temps and dismantle us. Our staff has problems planning and then with in game adjustments in all games, but especially big ones. There are issues with clock management, knowing when and why to stop the clock. There are issues with when to throw the red flag on a challenge and when to hold it.

Can anyone credibly make the argument that these issues are getting better over the years and not worse? Can the argument be made that the team has over-performed their talent in the post-season play? Is coaching the team like a Supreme Court appointment or is it fair to constantly re-assess the situation based on the evidence and make changes as needed? I'd say it should be the latter. If we were dealing with a Belichick type record of over-performing over 20 years and six rings, maybe it would be the former. But it's not.....not in the slightest.

Too bad Big Ben and Mendenhall swung the other superbowl by 21 points...

The team accomplished something this year that no other Steelers team has accomplished. Tomlin gets to share in that feat. I have wanted the guy gone many of times. I just think it is unrealistic to think he will be shown the door. So then you have to fix what can be fixed. A new Oline coach? Sure. A new OC? Sure. Upgrade the Oline sure. All things can be accomplished and should be accomplished. Will all of them take place? We'll see.

Pick 6 was Kemo getting bull rushed right into Ben's arm when he was in the middle of throwing the ball.

Perhaps he shouldn't have thrown the interception? Fundamentals people! - Chris Berman on ESPNU commercial describing Neil O'Donnel's 2 INT SB performance.

well Neil had a clean pocket and one of the best Olines in the NFL. I have no issues with Tomlin from the GB super bowl.

Ben had 2 INTs. One was a pick 6 the other led to a TD drive.

A pick six can be overcome. The problem in that game was that the D could not stop ARod, this was after having the Jets by the throat in the 1st half of the AFCC and then letting them almost take the game after half. IMHO, TB was a worse QB from the perspective of throwing picks and making dumb mistakes, yet somehow those teams were able to overcome those mistakes and win when it counted. Very similar players in terms of impact and style actually, BB and TB. The difference is the HC, from philosophy to strategy to tactics.

Tomlin doesn't run the defense or offense. Can't blame him.

I think you can. He hires them. The outstanding coaches that a part of the game and run with it on offense or defense. Tomlin's more of a delegator.

Sarcasm really is too difficult for some people to comprehend.

Yeah, I was being sarcastic. It just seems like it's Butler and Randy being blamed for everything when **** goes bad according to media and some fans. When things are running smooth, Tomlin is the Coach of the year. It can't be both ways, he needs to be called out for no adjustments on defense at the very least.

As it is often there is always more than one problem contributing to a loss and more than one credit goes into a win. Certain times I think we can point to a player,HC, or positional coach being a main culprit. I think as time goes on we can see habitual good and bad which would fall on the HC good or bad. Just really depends on the topic. The offense ****** play calling falls on Randy.
