OK so we know Bud is out for the year. Call me crazy but I'm actually excited to see what we have in Highsmith. From the snaps I have seen from him I actually think he is going to be fine.
I mean look at it this way, we're getting a sneak peak of next year a few games earlier. I do understand that doesn't replace BD and his productivity, but chances are we are going to lose him in free agency.(Course that could change now with the injury)
All we can do is get behind Alex and hope he slides in and we don't miss a beat. One thing for sure the D line is going to have to ball. So Tuitt, Cam and Tyson better be ready to step it up even further. Thoughts?
Also first post as life long Steeler fan. Thanks for having me

I hate bold print.

I agree though.. I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do. I think he's going to be a solid fill in.

Don't forget Ola. He has been flashing on special teams, maybe he will show more with some regular snaps.

Welcome aboard and good take 24!

As long as the front 3 stays healthy with Tuitt, Alualu, and Heyward. It will take a lot of pressure off of Highsmith's development. They will help him make plays.

We have a rookie with a high motor. What we don't have is the experience Bud has the past few years playing opposite TJ and learning tendencies and contain. The one thing Bud struggled with early in his career was over pursuing and losing contain. He has shored that up greatly the last two years and become an elite pass rusher. Highsmith is going to be a drop off, but he will bring a different skill set for us out there. We may need to switch him over to the other side and bring TJ back to ROLB. We will see what wrinkles they throw out there the rest of the season.

Welcome aboard 24.

The most likely area of concern will be coverages. That is the hardest thing to learn for a lot of LB's. That said, I don't think they will ask him to drop to coverage much.
