Initial tests on #Steelers LB Bud Dupree indicate a torn ACL, sources tell me and @AKinkhabwala. Tests coming to confirm but the team expects him to be lost for the reason. Crushing for the team and Dupree, who is playing on the franchise tag and is slated to be a free agent.

Really bummed for Bud. We may see him stay with the Steelers on a one year deal. With the possibility of a lower cap next year... very few teams will be flush with cash.

Here’s hoping Highsmith (or whoever settles in as Bud’s replacement) has the same level of success that Spillane has had in replacing Bush.
I keep pushing this...its such a win win... even moreso now
Players relocating are hit and miss if they perform at the same level, especially in the first season... the teams who have the space for a monster contract are mostly teams that suck to play for.... i mean if you want to sign a monster contract with the jets then get cut two years later and get peanut for your next deal, great....
But you resign here... pad your stats... get a huge deal in 2022 when everyone will have serious bank again...
we get another season of terror bookends

I think you should look in the mirror and try to do better at life and stop being a ***** about news that you saw on every station and website seconds after I posted it. I feel bad for Bud - he was having another good season and this will probably cost him money as a FA.
I wonder if the Steelers are going to go next man up with Highsmith and Ola or look around some. I was looking at FA’s and saw that Clay Matthews is a FA. What’s up with him? Why isn’t he on a team this year? He had 8 sacks last year in 13 games for the Rams - not bad. Is he worth a look as a replacement?

I think we will be ok but I would totally take one of the older ufa edge rushers for the playoffs just in case...
The premier ones are Clay Matthews, Terrell Suggs, and Cameron Wake... i don’t know if any if tgem have anything left but it cannot hurt to check....

That's not Steelers style to pick up someone thats never played for the team in the past. I think they'll stick with what we have.

What's crazy is both the Bush and Dupree ACL injuries were on some pretty innocent looking plays. They didn't take a brutal hit to the knee and their feet didn't get caught in the turf. Makes it even tougher for both of those guys.
Well, one thing is for sure. well all see what the defense is without him. and what they'll have to do in the offseason. best case, Highsmith is the real deal and all is good. or they have to draft his replacement.
