We need a closer at RB

Maybe if we had a healthy FB the hole would have been there for him. To me he is still a walk free agent for us but he's proven he can get some big runs too. My issue with Conner is mostly his fumbling.

Im not a huge conner fan, but no RB would have converted that run. I think they said during the game that since week 2 conner was averaging the 3rd most yards of any RB. I think the 3rd and 1 was too predictable they should have faked the hand off and ran wide

Also, where the hell was Benny Snell football this weekend? Did he land in the coach's doghouse?

Fyi, BigBen - it's 2020 and Leveon just WRECKED the Jets for 7 yards on 6 carries.
To be fair, he added another 31 in the passing game.

That gives him 38 for the day.

Conner gave the Steelers 60.

AGAIN, Advantage Conner. And the Steelers played a real NFL team.

Benny has shown a slight propensity for the fumblerooski... can't have that in this game. (Yes, I know, Conner has fumbled too, but from a straight %s number, Conner is the safer bet.)

Was surprised with stacked defensive line we ran Conner's straight into the defense. That may have been the time for something little unexpected. No problem we had em all the way

He got 60, Steelers needed 62,
luckily the D bailed them out.

Ultimately the main priority was to protect the ball and not do anything that could either lead to a fumble or stop the clock. Had Conner tried to make some **** up on the fly and bounce it outside and had he gotten hit such that the ball came out, folks would be going insane.

Sometimes you DO want to live in your fears just a little. ;-)

should of done a pa roll out and dunmped a te screen to ebron or vance or even brogt juju and do that shovel pass into the gut and push him

When is protecting the ball not the main priority for a RB?
We don't need to make **** up on the fly, we need a RB that is a closer, If we had a closer this would not be a thread and we would not be having a conversation about living in our fears.
Conner is decent in space but can never be counted on to be a closer, He only gets whats given and can't get the tough short yards.
I'd rather have Isaac Redman with a lead in the 4th than James Conner

Steelers down in the 4th backed up on the 2 yardline. Conner on the sidelines.
Shows how much faith they have in James.

You don’t run in that position. Also, he seen the field once I think in second half. We didn’t run at all.

It's more about the running game than the running back.

Comedy gold from this thread...

Conner dances too much. PUT IN MCFARLAND!

Our RB can't run up the middle. But it's not because of our line.

LeVeon Bell was AMAZING... Like 4 years ago.

Has it ever occurred to any of you that our line isn't very good?

Anyone wanna fight me on this one again this week?

OL is just not as good as some think it is. I would love to know our conversion rate on 3rd and 4th and short.

We didn't run at all, That's exactly my point!

He failed to convert short yardage to ice the game, that's twice in two weeks.

11 touches for 20 yards, let that sink in.

Yeah id argue it’s far more due to oline and playcalling than RB talent...

This oline is a pass blocking line in a predominantly passblocking scheme. They don’t do traditional sets as much as tgey are spreading them out and running around the edges rather than attacking up the middle
