Does anyone know why he's on this roster? He is not a good pass catcher, he's not a good runner, and he's average at pass pro. He had a big drop today, that was the last straw for me.

He can do a bunch of things at subpar level. I'd rather see any of our RBs and even Watt in there over him.
 
I'm hoping he's the roster cut that corresponds with the Avery Williamson trade.

NE *'s say, "hi"...

IIRC, he only had one pass thrown his way and he dropped it. Most of the receivers were dropping balls in the wet conditions yesterday.

I don't think Samuels is awful, it is just that he offers nothing that the other RB's on the roster don't already provide. There is literally nothing special about him in the passing game, and considering he is also a mediocre runner and pass blocker, there is no value in keeping him. Good spot for an upgrade either now or in the offseason.

he's sucked for weeks, bro. the last time he impressed me was in that game against the patriots, season before last.
 
I don’t think Samuels has a spot on this roster. Hell, I’d rather them use Derek Watt more in that role. He was a solid pass catcher for Rivers out of the backfield. They’re paying him 3 mil a year. I’m using him more than just special teams.
 
Samuels seems to have gotten worse this year. I don't see him making the roster next year and could get cut during this season. Although, McFarland hasn't shown much of anything yet so Samuels may still be safe. McFarland would have had a nice run yesterday if he wouldn't have tripped over his own 2 feet behind the line. The hole was huge and he got too excited.
 
he sucks cut him dress the te over him for redzone opprtunites, give all the pass cathing plays in the gun they have for samuals to mcfarland.
samuals has not done **** since that game vs the pats
 
I won't be upset if he's gone, but I still think he's a better runner & catcher than Mickey F, at this point in time...Derek Watt has been hampered w/ a hammy so there's that as well...

Well you're missing his pass pro and run blocking. Had a big block on the goal line for the Claypool rushing TD, that the referees couldn't see it was a TD until after replay.

He was never a RB in college, he was a slot receiver/ skatback. I see what the Steelers are doing with him as a receiving option, and he is the RB for all 2min drills in hurry up. We're scoring a ton off of those, so I would say he's pretty far from being useless. He just needs to catch the balls that hit him in the hands.

No ones worried about him.. everyone's wondering why he's on the field on big 3rd downs when he does nothing. Believe it or not, there are things the team can improve on.

Agree with you.... Good teams should always be looking to improve in any way, shape or form. Other teams are doing it so you better if you want to remain on top.

He has been getting few opportunities of late and he isn't helping his cause by dropping passes that hit him right in the hands. Secure the damn ball then turn it up field. You practice all week to give yourself a chance to succeed in the next game.........make the most of those opportunities..... it starts with the fundamentals....
