Welcome to the Steeler Wing of the Hall of Fame Coach Tomlin!

Been thinking on that. Does winning another SB to get to two and then retiring get Tomlin in? I say he should push for TWO in the next two years to solidify his chances.

I’d have to think he’s pretty much got it locked up already?

2 Super Bowl appearances, with 1 win already, same as Dungy. No losing seasons ever, to date, which he could possibly rap up this season by week 9? 14 and counting on seasons with 1 team speaks to his consistency and talent. If Dungy is a HOF’er, how could Tomlin not be, especially upon passing Dungy in wins, which would appear inevitable.

...actually, my bad: Dungy is 1-1 SB’s and Tomlin is 1-2. So Tomlin already has an additional SB appearance over Dungy.

Nope, you were right the first time. Tomlin has won one SB and lost one. 1 - 1.

I think Coach Tomlin is very near or just barely in. GAURANTEE he is in if he wins another SB.

A couple of dis' is
1) he hasn't done anything to change the game (strategize / rule changes / etc..
2) has not. Won enough PO games even with his HOF QB THE ENTIRE TIME coaching.

A couple of positive
1) has won a hell of a lot of games
2) currently never a losing season.......... For whatever that is worth

A SB win would seal the deal.

Salute the nation

I’m a little tired today ! Lol

I meant Dungy was 1 for 1 in SB appearances and Tomlin was 1 for 2.

At any rate, I think it would be hard to keep Tomlin out of the HOF when he decides to hang it up, regardless of any more SB appearances/wins.

And Don Shula was 6-6 with his franchise QB, then the best statistical QB to ever play in Dan Marino. Winning Superbowls is tough. You need luck, health, and talent. Unless you're the pats, then you just need signal stealing, radio interference, and ball control (by controlling the air pressure)...

Another cool think to think about with Tomlin, is he is part of the Chuck Noll coaching tree. Chuck hired Dungy 81 to run DBs then he was the DC from 84-88. Dungy went on to coach the Tampa Bay Bucs and hired Tomlin to be his DB coach. Tomlin then became a DC in Minnesota and a year later got the job here.

Definitely an interesting tidbit and overlooked perspective.

Congrats Mike. I know we are critical sometimes of your body of work. But hell,we were critical of Bill and even Chuck sometimes.
Let’s keep on getting those wins........especially in the playoffs!
