By: G.Stryker,*Twitter @SNStryker and Instagram @SNStryker SteelerNation.com Lamar Jackson was drafted in 2018 by the Baltimore Ravens. He had 4 rushes for 17 yards in the 26-14 victory in Pittsburgh that year, but Joe Flacco was their starting quarterback. Flacco also started the 16-23 defeat in Baltimore later that season, but it would be his […]

Meh Jackson is ok, but as predicted he hasn’t been the great QB people made him out to be last year... he is a run first qb.... far below what a Mahomes or even Watson brings to the table.... he is a much better version of Kordell....

Eventually the league catches up to the runningback who can throw types... hopefully it goes quick for Jackson....

You're right Mad.

Last season, the Steelers set the blueprint for his worst game of the season 3INTs 54.9.
In 15 games he did have 2 perfect games 158.3 as well as 9 total games above 100QBR i in the 90s 2 80s and essentually 2 70s. That Steelers game was a stinker for him.

In the playoffs TEN held him to his 2nd lowest on the season of 63.2 1TD 2INTs 4sacks

This year is not as good for his passer rating
6 games he has 3 over 100 including a near perfect game to open the season vs CLE
92 vs PHL, and 73 KC and 72 CIN

Cincy is the only team to shut down the run on him this year. Steelers are capable with a better overall team. This game could get ugly if fleet foot has to pass.

Heard today that Steelers generate the highest percentage of QB pressures per pass play at 44%. Next highest is 35%. Ravens blitz more than any other team. Ben is THE highest rated passer against the blitz 71% completion.

Back in the BA days, one of my biggest ******* was how underutilized Ben’s quick passing game was

Every year a publication that I read broke down Bens passer rating by seconds held the ball, starting at under a second and increasing by half a second to six seconds

Bens rating over five seconds was meh but dramatically better than the league average for that time, but he was one of the best at quick throws... well over 100 passer rating most years... Yet we used slow developing deep crossing routes all the time... now he is embracing the quick game and it shows

just think what a world of hurt the Ravens are going to be when they actually have to pay a QB market price.

I’ve read Ben currently has the quickest release time from snap to pass in the league, under 3 seconds I believe.

Ariens held BEN's developement back. the Bruce sucked *** and nearly ended Ben's carrer. Haley actually revived and saved Ben so accredit Haley for that.

EDIT: EXCELENT post madinsomniac thanks

if the defense plays like they did the first game last year, this will be a Steelers victory....they almost won with ****** qb play

One thing Im worried about is our pass rush being too aggressive and losing contain. I would like to see them dial it back a bit and keep jackson in the pocket. A couple teams held him down pretty good, but then he broke 30-40 yrd runs. As long as we can stick on Andrews I think we should be OK.

Ben lead the nfl in the quickest time between the snap and pass at 2.33 after weeks 6. Craig Wolfley said that Ben's "snap to pass" time after the flaming Ts game was reduced to a bizarre 2.05.

Ben lead all passers in 2018 with a 2.38.

Ben has always been that quick release QB. His OCs never schemed that way and I think CANADA has influenced him greatly. Randy is who he is and the change didn't come from Randy or at least Canada has had major influence enough to get BEN TO LISTEN. BEN HAS TAKEN GAMES OVER IN THE PASS WITH THIS KIND (sorry caps) of release but then would go back to long ball. His 2min hurry up is near best in the league for quite some time and you can acredit that to the quick release he has. Play calling, yes but also the quick release as well.
