Browns WR Odell Beckham feared to have suffered major knee injury in win

Odell Beckham was done for the day early in the afternoon. He could be out for far longer than just a game.

The Browns' star wideout went to the locker room in the first quarter of Cleveland's 37-34 win over the Bengals with a left knee injury and was subsequently ruled out. Browns coach Kevin Stefanski told reporters following the victory that Beckham will undergo an MRI on his knee Monday morning.

NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported, per a source, that OBJ is feared to have suffered a major knee injury.

Beckham was banged up while trying to make a tackle following a Baker Mayfield interception on Cleveland's second play from scrimmage. Mayfield targeted OBJ downfield but instead hit Cincinnati's Darius Phillips in the chest.

It's the second straight game Mayfield's first pass was picked off. This one cost not only a possession but his best receiver. The Bengals soon capitalized on the short field with a Joe Burrow touchdown run to take a 7-0 lead.

Through six games, Beckham was tied for the team lead in receiving yards and touchdowns for a Browns offense that has struggled against the Ravens and Steelers but feasted on the rest of its opponents. In fact, OBJ's first TD of 2020 came in a Week 2 win over the Bengals. But his involvement again came into question this past week after he caught just two passes (on three targets) for 25 yards in a blowout loss to Pittsburgh.

It's two receptions more than what he tallied Sunday as Cleveland (5-2) took down Cincinnati (1-5-1) a second time this season, this time sans OBJ.

I saw the play of OBJ getting hurt and it looked like instead of trying to tackle the Defender he jumps into a Clowns FB and landed awkwardly as he came to the ground. Looked pretty st00pid I'm not really sure what he was trying to do.

Browns will be better without him playing. He's a headache and one of the most overrated WRs in NFL history. He had good seasons with Giants, all while being a terrible team.

Who?

Mayfield passer raising is 40 points higher without Beckham playing. Wow.

Mayfield probably too concerned with getting the ball to OBJ to keep him happy. Without him they can spread the ball more. However, defenses will adjust now that they don't have a real deep threat.

I'd guess that was his last game for cleveland. They will cut or trade him.

It was strange seeing that WR People-Jones score the game winner. Seems like the first time a Michigan guy scored in Ohio in a decade.

I was very high on PJ this draft. I liked him as a big slot option and I was hoping the Steelers could pick him up late, 6th or 7th. Turns out he can run the edge as well. Great hands on that player, they are not going to miss OBJ as much as they think they will.
