Finally college football is back this week after a really long layoff. I heard there may have been a few minor scrimmages before now but haven't confirmed that.
The Big 10 is back in no small part because people at Nebraska were going to sue the B10. The B10 was so grateful that they start Nebraska off with Ohio State and Wisconsin back to back. Then Penn State in Week 4. Probably just a coincidence.
Let's jump right in to the game of the week that the nation is waiting for
8 Penn State at Indiana 3:30 on FS1
A familiar name for steeler fans. Joey Porter Jr is listed as the starter at CB and reports are they are very high on him. Star LB Micah Parsons has opted out of the season to prepare for the NFL. The best in-line TE in the nation, Pat Freiermuth will play.
Starting RB Journey Brown who had a breakout towards the end of last year will not play this year due to an undisclosed non-covid condition. That's disappointing but PSU is very deep at RB so they will be fine there.
The question is at WR. Who will step up?
Penn State has a new OC over from Minnesota. With reduced practices, how much of his offense is installed? Could be a slow start
Now for some less important games
23 NC State at 14 North Carolina 12:00 on ESPN
UNC seemed to be cruising and then they were upset by Florida State. How good are they?
3 Notre Dame at Pitt 3:30 on ABC
ND did not look great vs a struggling Florida State and barely beat a mediocre Louisville. Pitt lost 3 in a row but they have been in all of them. Can they pull an upset?
2 Alabama at Tennessee 3:30 CBS
Tenn looked like maybe they would turn a corner, then their QB **** his pants. Bama's defense has not been good but unless Tenn's QB suddenly stops sucking, this will be a blowout
17 Iowa State at 6 Oklahoma State 3:30 FOX
Iowa State pulled off an upset over Oklahoma but that looks less impressive now. Oklahoma State had a struggle with West Virginia a few weeks ago and also struggled vs Tulsa. Hopefully coach Gundy will have his wardrobe approved by his RB before the game so they have no issues.
18 Michigan at 21 Minnesota 7:30 ABC
was last year a fluke for Minn? Minn's best player WR Rashod Bateman opted out, but then he opted back in so he is playing. They also have QB Tyler Morgan returning. They lost their OC to Penn State but the offense shouldn't change much. Michigan will be breaking in a new starter, likely sophomore Joe Milton after Dylan McCaffrey (Christian's brother) got wise and entered the transfer portal. Michigan is inexperienced. Here's hoping MInn rows the boat over Harbaugh's stupid face.
