Let me tell you one got damn thing..

Paul! Good to see you my brotha from a northern motha!

Claypool is just so crazy good. Wow. Don't see much weakness in his game either, but of course teams are gonna adjust. But can they really adjust to the "Mapletron"?

Hey Steelworth thanks for the shout out to the Great North...

You can't teach speed and size..... kid is going to win a lot of jump balls...... we have a young talented corps of WRs so he will open up things for others if they key on him.

Kid has a good sense of humour as well

Mapletron 1.0

This is one nickname I hope DOES NOT stick. Pittsburgh sports fans seems to have this obsession with stupid nicknames. This one tops the chart. By far.

I think its his choice.

Maybe you'd prefer "Air Canada"?

I like it, but I don't know. I kind of like simply Chase...cuz that's all those ***** *** Eagles did today was chase his *** down the field.

Just curious, what stupid nicknames do they have?

And **** you BTW. You're nothing but salt & stale **** at this point.

Mapletron is pretty funny.

You act like this is the first time people are naming diva WRs.

no i'm not, i almost always detest the ridiculous nicknames that players are given. every so often a good one will come along (i.e. bettis and "the bus"), but they're usually cringeworthy.

The "Bus" and Bettis. Oh my God, really?

What's the ******* problem with Mapletron, nifty nickname-giving ********?

Dionte Johnson has had some injuries. That's held him back. When he's on the field though he's clearly the best WR the steelers have. He gets crazy separation. He can run the full route tree.

The reason Claypool lasted in the draft, aside from it being a loaded class, was because he he doesn't run the full route tree. Same reason DK Metcalf fell to the end of rd 2. Claypool is similar to Metcalf. Similar to Martavis Bryant. Great at being a deep threat and can be very effective if used properly but is not a guy who is going to do it all.

Metcalf landed in the perfect spot. Wilson is a great deep ball thrower and they have Lockett to do all the underneath stuff. Same with Claypool and Johnson.

I want to be sold on Johnson, but I'm not yet. He is targeted far too many times and his catch % lags behind ALL the other receivers.

Just simple numbers.

Claypool is probably going to be a true #1... he will garner more attention, which should let Johnson and Juju and Washington have more space... there will be teams that wewill
Need Johnson’s quickness and teams that we will need Washington’s contested ball skills and teams that won’t be able to handle Juju running slot routes as a bigger wideout

You need at least 4 quality wrs in this league... I don’t understand why some people want to tear players down instead of looking at the benefits they bring to the table... if DJ is the next AB or even half of that, great... if claypool makes people think of Megatron fantastic... those guys were hall of fame Type talents...

It sure seems like he was doing it all yesterday, catching it short, intermediate and deep.

I think because he is not the most agile or light on his feet his route running is very underrated.

He's crafty and smart, as he just has a great feel for using the fear defenders have for his speed to his advantage by using subtle moves and body language to create space for himself.

He completely spun Jalen Mills around on the in-breaking route on his first receiving TD yesterday.

I just do not think the "one trick pony" label fits him at all.

He just has something from an awareness and technique standpoint that the likes of Bryant and Mike Wallace lacked.

Those two should have been a lot better on the underneath stuff, given how loosely opposing DBs played them.

Chase likes the Mapletron nickname so in that aspect that is good enough for me. As far as his draft status his college route tree made you wonder if he could develop a full NFL route tree but I think he is answering that challenge weekly. I see nothing but growing pains holding this kid back and even that might be few and far between. Nothing but clear skies....do I see.

Come on, Tape, get out of here with that reasoning, you know you can't say both guys are good around here 😉

Good one, he's already achieved Al Bundy status. 4 touchdowns, one game. A rare club to be in,

Claypool, with his size, speed and ability to actually catch the ball, will garner double teams the rest of the year if they play him. He will open the field for the other WR's. JuJu can beat double teams some of the time but I think Claypool will be able to beat it more often and get open more often. Dude is going to be a complete stud at WR for us.

With him and Johnson I think it's safe to let JuJu walk after this season. Give him a non-exclusive tag, let another team sign him, and take the draft pick.

18 needs to be moved down the depth chart to #5.

No way. Johnson doesn't have great hands but he has the uncanny ability to work through traffic and dodge defenders much like Santonio Holmes could do. He is far better than James Washington who should be our #4. Then sprinkle in a little Ray Ray McCloud as our #5 WR.

Just because Claypool had a huge day and Dionte got hurt doesn't mean Dionte suddenly sucks, the dude had a very good rookie year with garbage qbs throwing to him, he led league in separation. Instead of using one guys injury to talk up another guy we should be pumped it looks like Ben has some damn weapons

Diontae is soft and has made some bonehead decisions this year. Two weeks in a row he's been knocked out of a game. If he can't stay on the field healthy then he is a liability to suit up when he can leave the offense shorthanded. Ray Ray may just take this guy's spot.
