pouncey sounds upset that he was essentially forced to support somebody he didn't know. I hope a lot of players wake up and start examining the motives of SJW people using them for publicity.

I will say that I don't think that Rose should have been shot since he was running away and not threatening anyone but at the same time he was a criminal and part of a gang in that car that participated in a drive-by shooting and got shot back at, there were bullet holes in the car.

Antwon Rose Jr., criminal, shot perhaps unjustly by police.
George Floyd, criminal, cop should not have kneeled on his neck but he died from a fentanyl overdose anyway.
Jacob Blake, criminal, shot by police while reaching for a weapon.

In all three cases, had they not broken the law in the first place the police would not have been there.

Tamir Rice, Breonna Taylor, Elijah McClain ... Not criminals. Minding their own business and shot by police. There are more. Let's not make the narrative that ALL of the people shot by police are criminals who have broken the law. And I won't make it seem like ALL of them are innocents.
That said .... 1 - 0. Can we get back to football?

All of these instances should have been judged on their own merit, unfortunately they were not, and it's why we find ourselves having this conversation.

How about honoring a person in each player's life, that had a positive effect and mentored them as they were growing up, and are a huge reason for their professional success to this point.

That would be a great story to tell....would it not?

And yet still don't want to talk about the much bigger problem of black on black murders. Just doesn't fit the agenda...

Bill Nunn is a name that is being floated now.

Now that's more like it. That'll get everybody back to the business of football.

Steelers or any other NFL player has just shown they love to all point the fingers and all united and to force feed their own bias and yet not smart enough to look into the complete story.. This has been the same when originally it was the police to many times than not the individuals you are trying to memorialize has not been this ideal citizen. Yes some police action has not been stealer Now they want to race has the issue yet not one of these plyers on the sidelines pumping fist and the mean face has stood up an admitted they have found themselves being racist. If they admitted this, would be just like the name on back of helmet only wanting all fans in TV world to have no opinion but the opinion of the players without looking at the complete picture.

Breonna Taylor was a criminal. She was under investigation for dealing and a dead body was found in a car she rented. Also, there was a lot of complaints about the so called "no knock" warrant. The cops did in fact knock. And they waited while Breonna and her thug boyfriend got dressed and looked out the peephole to see t was the cops. The thug then sent Breonna to the door and shot at the cops. Cops then returned fire and she was shot. I read somewhere that the thug then tried to claim in was Breonna shooting at them when the cops arrested him

I suppose you could investigate how the cops handled it tactically. I read somewhere that one of the cops may have just been firing blindly so that could be a training issue but it's not a racism issue.

I believe this was a part of 3 or 4 simultaneous raid on the same drug ring across the city. There were no shots fired at the other locations.

None of that means she deserved to die but it certainly changes the narrative that racist cops busted in her door and started shooting while they were in bed.

As to the point of being hypocritical about wearing pink and honoring the military, I disagree. I know that many people on this board did in fact complain about wearing pink and doing other political things. For me though I don't see military tributes as political. The anthem has always been played. They have had flyovers and parachuters and so on for decades at big games. The fact that the NFL started charging the army for these displays, IMO, does not make them any more political.

I do hope that players wake up and start checking things out for themselves. They can start by researching the names they are being told to champion. They can actual read the BLM mission statement which includes spreading communism, getting rid of the 2 parent household, destroying the concept of family in favor of a "village" (AKA the government), and for godo measure, destroying Israel.

If players want to be active in communities, that's great. The NFL has promoted that for decades. The NFL man of the year and so forth. Players who donate their time, who visit kids in hospitals, donate supplies to schools, etc. Now it's been replaced with a new lazy activism. Just take a knee, wear a T-shirt, send a hashtag and get credit for being Martin Luther King. I'm glad to see somebody like Vince Williams wake up to the fake woke bullshit and encouraging people to do something tangible instead of raising money for the Democrat party, which is where most BLM donations end up.

In any case, I think the coverage of these protests will be very small going forward and focus should be back on football

Let's. Just. Let. This. Die.

The Decision was made by management. We ought to keep giving them hell and voting with our feet. Art and Crew need their noses rubbed in this for awhile if you ask me -- mask or no mask:

https://heavy.com/sports/pittsburgh...twon-rose-decision-mostly-made-by-management/

"On Thursday, Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick provided a little more insight as to how the players came to wear Antwon Rose Jr. decals on their helmets, telling the media: “We knew we were going to have somebody on the back of our helmets and it wasn’t exactly clear on what it was going to be,” Fitzpatrick said. “It was mostly made by everyone upstairs.”

"That seems to contradict the notion that the decision to wear Antwon Rose Jr. decals came by way of team vote, as Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin purportedly told Rose’s mother, Michelle Kenney, during a phone call last week."

"Yet the issue caused enough of a firestorm that it led Steelers owner and president Art Rooney II to issue a statement on Thursday, which said that the organization respects “the decisions of each player, coach and staff member relating to how to express themselves on social justice topics,” before adding:

“…. We understand that individually we may say or do things that are not universally accepted. There will be uncomfortable conversations. But we will strive to be a force for unity in our efforts to support a more just society.
"

So, what exactly has the team done that is "unifying" here?

The political climate, social justice if you will, is unsustainable. People have always had differing opinions, but in the past were intelligent enough to realize that you can't force your opinion on someone to effect change.

This I'm right, you're wrong mentality, and you must comply or be shamed will never produce unity, therefore there must be a different goal in mind. Or perhaps people really are that stupid these days.

Since we are giving the team a pass since they all voted maybe someone should have dug deeper instead of taking something for face value.

Not surprising as the Rooneys declared allegiances in publicly endorsing Obama in exchange for the Ambassadorship to Ireland.

Art is carrying on the family business which is now Social Justice -- IE the family "Foundation and endowment" if you will.

No different than what the Robber barrons did a century ago after they had achieved vast success in their field as the Rooneys have relatively done in the NFL economy. Carnegie, Rockefeller, DuPont, etc. all knew that "legacy" was the new chase after making all the money that could be spent in a thousand lifetimes.

Similarly, the Rooneys with the Rooney Rule, Obama, and now these hijinks and virtue signaling are making it clear that social justice is the preeminent goal -- not employing a Top Notch HC or winning playoff games or Super Bowls (things they have already done in times past better than anyone else).

Their record over the past 10 years speaks for itself.
