100% no. He wasn't going to get his number retired if he kept playing. Truly sad to have his career ended over the injury, but retired numbers should be reserved for true greatness only. This team has so much greatness that there is no way they could retire all of the numbers worn but the most upper echelon of the greats.
 
Ryan Shazier was not Lawrence Taylor.
 
47. Those guys were great but didn’t force a rules change like Blount did.

Oh I agree Blount is definitely retire worthy, however, at the time he retired, 47 has only been used 3 times, (less we forget Scott Shields) last being in 2006. It hasn’t been issued since.

No. They didn't retire Gabe Rivera's number, now did they?
 
No but I'm okay with the ring of honor, even if he's the least deserving player on the field to get it.
