Players Opting Out ?

Anyone notice how many of the Patriots top players are opting out. Do you think this is on purpose to tank the season to get Trevor Lawrence next draft ?

I know it is a conspiracy theory but I can't say that didn't cross my mind when I saw Patriot player after Patriot player opt out. Did billacheat get everybody together and tell them that he wouldn't hold it against them if they opted out? I never put anything past that cheating *******.

Makes sense, as I doubt a full season will be played. Cheats go 0-4 and are in the running for a lottery type draw. ****'em!
 
Things are certainly not looking promising for a season. Baseball lasted what 3 days without an issue. No bubble for NFL players do you really think they are going to be cautious in their downtime? At this point I would be shocked if they make it through the season.

Be cautious in their down time,........... REMEMBER these are some of the most coddled dipshits ever. They have no sense of right from wrong because NOTHING will ever happen to them. Top that with the individual selfishness of meMEme and I THINK YOU'VE GOT YOUR ANSWER.


AS for players Opting out, I can't be the judge of their reasoning. I know the odds of an individual player in the NFL of getting C-19 is probably 80% positive to get it. Who do they have in their circle that they respect and don't want to risk, thus the opt out.


AS for the cheating bastiges, anything cheating his possible and blatantly doing so is just as possible. ****, the filmed live action Bengals game and got wrist tapped.

Since it involves the Pats, i assume it is some sort of way to game the system, maybe create cap room, something. Then again, people in Boston are whiny douchebags so maybe it's just worn off on the players
 
Just realized, if players opt out, their contract tolls, and thus is not counted on this year's salary cap. The unused difference would be applied to next year's cap. Since next year's cap is probably going down, the Pats are already at an advantage...

So create cap room, tank the season. Be in the position to draft a QB high, and not have to worry about cap restraints.

in order for this to happen the players in question would have to be payed under the table. so take Hightower and Chung, who I believe are the biggest name. Hightower is giving up 8 million Dollars and is 30 years old. Unless he is paid under the table he isn't opting out for ***** and giggles. and paying under the table would be extremely risky.

How so??? t*mmyb*y got money under the table for years and it was pretty obvious. You're right in it would be a big decision for these athletes and in no way am I standing up for them as we all KNOW the cheatriots have ulterior motives. Being paid under the table wouldn't be that hard coming from a "kr*fty" organization such as the cheatriots.

I could get the angle on Tommy Boy. He looks like a hero, he gets his money. The three of them (Kraft, Belicheat and Brady) all have their legacies entwined, Hightower and Chung get paid to not play and Chung has his own issues with coke so he is a complete liability. And the payoff to the organization is Trevor Lawrence - Maybe? and some cap room next year. No I cannot buy that. Sorry. I'm pretty deep into Patriot conspiracies. Not that deep.

I don't think tank mode hits teams are eliminated from the playoffs, and the order has to come from an owner to get the head coach to buy in knowing he won't be fired.

I do think the NFL needs a draft lottery as tanking does exist. Besides it could only help us, we have no shot to pick first.

Under the amended collective bargaining agreement between the NFL and NFL Players Association, agreed to on July 24, players have the choice to opt out of the 2020 NFL season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.


If a player wished to opt out, he must have provided his club with written notification by August 6 at 4 p.m. ET.

A player can still opt out later if one of the following applies: if that player gets a new diagnosis that he has a high-risk condition; or if a player's family member dies, is hospitalized or otherwise moves to a medical facility because of COVID-19 or related condition.

To be designated a voluntary opt-out, a player must be under contract or subject to a tender. The player's contract will toll and all provisions of that contract for the tolled year will be applicable the following season; however, he will not receive an accrued season. The player will be eligible for a stipend of $150,000 to be treated as a salary advance against his tolled contract; an undrafted free agent, however, is not eligible for the stipend.

To be designated a higher-risk opt-out, a player must have a diagnosis reflected in their medical records of at least one of the following factors, which are based upon a modified list of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) risk factors list: cancer; chronic kidney disease; COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease); immunocompromised state from solid organ transplant; serious heart conditions, such as heart failure, coronary artery disease, or cardiomyopathies; sickle cell disease; type 2 diabetes mellitus; asthma; cerebrovascular disease; cystic fibrosis; hypertension or high blood pressure; immunocompromised state from blood or bone marrow transplant, immune deficiencies, HIV, use of corticosteroids, or use of other immune weakening medicines; neurologic conditions, such as dementia; liver disease; or pulmonary fibrosis.

It is not mandatory for a "higher risk" player to opt out. A higher-risk opt-out will receive an accrued season toward free agency and all benefits and minimum salary credit for a credited season and is also eligible for a stipend of $350,000, which will not constitute a salary advance.

Sort of. There is still a few ways to opt out if the player has Covid or if a family member dies or I believe is hospitalized. Something along these lines..........
