By: Jonathan Clark SteelerNation.com   Ryan Switzer is a name that most fans around the NFL might not be too familiar with. Switzer was a fourth round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys. Standing at 5’8″ and weighing in at 182 pounds, it was clear that Switzer was the type of […]

Guy goes down at the slightest touch and has zero ability to break away on returns. No slot threat. Totally replaceable with an athletic rookie.

I am all for him trying and succeeding. Will he who knows but the O could use a better year out of him. It will be a challenge for him probably just to make the roster with better depth available.

Pfff. Switzer shitzer. Tell that dude to kick rocks

Now, now, he's the best kick returner we've had since Rod Woodson. (Long-time fans will get the joke.)

He was coming on well 2 years ago with Ben during his first year here with no real camp. I thought he would take a leap last year but he was injured and Ben got injured. Ben was the guy who knew how to use him. I'm not sure why they didn't use him much even at the start of the season but they didn't. Maybe he really didn't look that good in camp, which would be disappointing. With Ben coming back, I look for him to get another shot but if he makes the roster, it will be as the last WR on the team. You can always use a good possession type WR that can get 1st downs and move the chains. Maybe he can do that this year.

Are you saying Dri Archer was a joke,...... I beg to say 160+ pages say to differ.............

I've been hard on Switzarmyknife and for good reason. A 1/2 blade of grass seemed to trip him up. He has the lowest yards per catch in NFL history. A slot receiver needs to be more than that and his return ability isn't much higher than average (Dionte Johnson is SO much better). If he truly makes a roster spot on ability and NOT on BEN's shirttail, then more power to him but I THINK THERE IS BETTER talent for the last spot WR position.

The order as I see it is: Juju, Johnson, Claypool/Washington. Switzer and his friendship with Ben is probably ahead of anyone who is not one of those guys. But that makes him 5 at best. Throw in Ebron and Macdonald targets and there is little room for any Switzer numbers. I could see him making the team but I don't see much of a role. Wouldn't be surprised if he was cut.

Fair assessment

He's Ben's buddy! This crap has to stop and the team needs to keep the best 53 of which Switzer is not among them. He's much too easy to bring down and brings nothing to the team imo. Switzer had his few years in the NFL which he can share with his kids and grandkids, but now time for him to move on with his life's work.

Ben's role is a narrative I've heard too many times to discount as untrue. Both in a negative way from someone like AB or Bell and in a neutral way from something I read from Demarcus Ayers the other day. I think Ben should be the leader of the team, but he shouldn't hold much say in team decision making. Switzer has had ample opportunity to show it on tape. I think it was a mistake cutting Rogers. Watch that game where they beat the Pats a couple years ago. When has Switzer contributed like that.

I have seen nothing from Switzer that indicates he will either be a decent slot receiver or return man. Deion Cain and K. Whyte appear to me to be better options.

Kerrith Whyte imo is the underdog im rooting for in the back field.. Which is why I think the RB situation isn't settled.

Training camp GROUND CREW will have a lot to say about swissarmy making the roster or not.

Coach Tomlin needs to rely on his assistant coaches for evaluation of said Ground Crew.

Switz is a nice kid but "puke".

Come back from what? Hell they could hire me to take a knee and for a lot less money.

And I think the best should play. But in the current situation it will be very difficult to move up the depth chart without injury (which does always occur). So I'm thinking they feel 4 MAYBE 5 running backs and Watt. I'd say Connor and Snell are lead pipe locks. Samuels and McFarland are virtual locks. So Whyte needs 5 backs or an injury for a realistic chance of more than P.S..

I actually like Whyte much more than Samuels - I think Samuels is redundant with both Connor and Snell. It would be nice to have 2 powerful guys and 2 guys that could break one at any time. JMO

To be fair, he is eligible for comeback player, since he went on IR after week 10. Though his numbers were piss poor on offense:

8 catches for 27 yards in 9 games.

For reference- Moncrief's numbers:

4 catches for 18 yards in 5 games

These numbers are very comparable for productivity.

Dri, is that you................... Oooppppppppss, wrong thread. Wait a minute, what happened to the ARCHER thread ?
