Another holy ****, I lived on both Blue Teal (right on corner of that & main drag -- the blue house) and Yellow Feather, which is right next to (or two streets down) from Lands End. And Lands End had the cul-de-sac, one of my best buddies from high school lived there for years and years.

Small world. I think I even remember the tuxedo shop you're talking about. Temecula at that time was still a fairly small town. Do you by chance remember a newspaper there in Canyon Lake called the Valley Star? It was in the Eastgate plaza. That was my pops.

I used to DJ at those wineries a lot. Churon Winery was our best venue, but I did a LOT at Wilson Creek. Mrs. Fan used to run their wine club.

I also started Vineyard Valley Pest Control in Temecula. Had to part with in in a divorce. Sold it to a my manager. A great guy named Tony. I understand that it is still kicking, too.

All my vintage Steeler jerseys I've collected over the years and would ritualistically wear every Sunday for game time are currently still hanging untouched on the same hangers I put them on when we moved into this house......8 years ago. It's not that I don't still watch the Steelers and enjoy the games, but it's nothing like what it used to be 10 years ago. I've become a casual fan that doesn't have the energy or incentive to make the game day experience an event anymore. I watch the games in a mostly neutral state with a sprinkle of excitement every once in awhile. It's not that I've lost respect for the Steelers as much as I've lost respect for the league. And the Roger Goodell era has a HUGE part of that happening. His regime has undermined the integrity of the game in multiple ways.

When Tomlin did the sideline thing and later the home playoff loss to Blake Bortles really soured it for me. Was clear the Rooneys had invested so much social capital in Tomlin that winning was just somewhere down the list.

What's ridiculous and disturbing about it? Is it absolutely necessary? You can count on your hands how many NFL players have served in the military over the last 30+ years -- what does professional football have to do with honoring the country?

Play it at the college games for the service academies...they're the guys who will be sacrificing themselves for your freedoms.

That seems to be the currant modus operandi,. The Left attacks any and all things they want to change and the sheeple go along for the ride. Many things that are being changed are done so by a small majority of big mouth people with no class or idea of proper social behavior, they just want to be noticed and to have their way.

NFL just announced that they will allow "social justice’ decals on the helmets. So if you planned on doing the DVR and skipping past the anthem or turning down the sound, nope, you still can’t escape it. It’s still going to be shoved right in your face.

But the point is, in today's environment, I don't see why playing the national anthem prior to a football game is necessary in the first place. The country's not at war overseas. This isn't 1918...the military isn't considering drafting professional football players. There is essentially no connection with the National Football League and patriotism. The sacred song will be reduced to a mere showcase for a radical political movement.

Having no anthem takes away a major forum for their debate, the bullshit is eliminated, and (hopefully) their movement eventually shrinks and dies. It's the smart thing to do. How many good people is the NFL going to piss off when its players stand for some black anthem, yet kneel for the real thing? Can you imagine a white player doing the reverse? What the repercussions for that brave individual might be?

I don't need to listen to "The Star-Spangled Banner" before a Steelers game to verify that I am a patriot. And neither should anyone else.

Right now MLB players are doing it. Entire Os team kneels before the anthem, then stands with arms locked during the anthem. I expect Hockey players to do it as well.

I think he was reffering to "outside of their job". I'm kinda on his line of thinking that NOT many or a very low percentage do. That would be interesting to find out, especially in the NFL football world.

Here’s the truth a lot of people need to hear - NOBODY cares if you stop watching. Turn it off, walk away, again - NOBODY cares.

That’s the whole point of this. You aren’t supposed to be comfortable with the protests, the kneeling, the decals. People want to say “peaceful protests” but have a problem with every form unless it fits their beliefs.

The point of the change players are looking to achieve, is to make you feel uncomfortable, to be something that upsets you, to be something you can’t just shut off or change the channel on. And you won’t.. because it’s your precious football. You say you’ll stop watching, but we all know you won’t.

Get over it, most people sit on their ***** at home with a beer in hand during the anthem anyways.

The only patriotism involved with the nfl is that football is essentially an American sport.

I think that was his train of thought as well. From my perspective, I can't see what it accomplishes, other than a look at me moment. Unless you've been a hermit in a cave somewhere, the message of police brutality and oppression of the oppressed has been shoved down everyone's throat on a daily basis. If players, celebrities, protesters, etc. really wanted to make a difference, they would be leading the masses into the inner cities of this country, putting on their work boots, and helping those communities. Instead, they pander, and blame the other guy, which continues to divide. Brilliant plan, with absolutely no end game. The I'm right, your wrong mentality will only destroy us, but perhaps that's the goal all along.
