Regardless someone needs to get those snaps. You also don't want to overload your ILBers. You want to keep them fresh. I would imagine a certain rookie S will get a hard look as well as Uly.

Addition by subtraction means the team is better off without a player, because his play or attitude hurt the team. That is not the case with Barron. He is a salary cap casualty, plain and simple, money had to be trimmed somewhere. They are banking on Bush with a year under his belt being able to play the whole load. And where situation arises moving Edmunds down to play a role of Barron with what was Bush and Barron on the field. but in a perfect world, I know they would still want Barron on the roster, if nothing else for very good depth.

Williams kinda worries me. He’s not the fastest guy.
But what he lacks up in speed he can make up for in the mental aspect of the game

Overall, I’m optimistic about this defense.

I send Williams strong A gap every play. If its a run he is exactly where he should be. If its a pass which it should only happen less than 50% he is still blitzing up the middle. Let the rest cover.

GREAT write up Jonathan. Lot of information in that good read, thank you

Bince has been the weak link in pass coverage and there's no denying that. It's how they divide up those 800 snaps is the real question. Maybe the youngUN can grab some of those and maybe our HIGH-BREED saftey might jump in on some. I think Bince is only gaining 10% or so of that extra load and the convo of the other two will garner 50% thus adding 30% more to Bush and the remaining 10% to micelanious play. Time will tell

I'm thinking Williams comes off on passing downs, and inserting Brooks or Allen as a $B

Yeah i see no way Williams will be playing on passing downs. The team doesnt even believe in using more than 2 DL. If they dont get away from that this year my TV may not survive

Brooks I can see. Or maybe even Edmunds. But Allen? I am not even sure he makes the roster let alone see the field.

Good article on UGIII from Steelers Depot. Kinda long video with too many replays but overall his tape looks good. He's faster than most of the safeties they have slotted into the "hybrid" role and about the same size with the added bonus of actually being a ILB. I'm thinking he's the "next man up" when it comes to backing up VW and DB. Steelers seem high on him. Makes me feel better about our ILB depth which I thought was our thinnest position going into the draft.

His question will be more of can he stay on the field. Not labeling him but that will be the wonder.

I think he is ok. Seems quick enough. IM not worried about bush. This guy can back him up yes. Question is will he threaten Vince Williams for the starting role? The thumper in the middle. Does he have enough speed AND *** to move vince to back up role.?

Man , I"m ready to move on from Williams. We needed to upgrade over him as well.

He is still a pretty good player and I thought I read he was ranked 4th at his position against the run. Not bad but the thing is if the opposing team wants to keep him on the field they can by going no huddle. So most times he is OK when in for the thumper run stop but occasionally he gets caught on passing downs and then struggles until he can get off field. I'm not ready to waive him just yet as he is starter material but more importantly if he is supplanted then he will be great back / depth player for the next two maybe three seasons.
