They signed Wintson to a deal, signed Hill to a 21million dollar deal, and moved up in the draft to take a QB (although it was the 7th round). I dont know why they would sign Winston to be the 3rd QB.

Brees looked tired late in the season. He may be hitting the career wall.. kick the tires for Winston as the next long term QB?

Winston is a one year deal. Why you would give A gadget player Hill 21 mil is beyond me guys had 7 completions in his career. Maybe they see Winston as back up this year and Hill qb of the future. Either way makes no sense to me.

Winston makes sense.. his rep isnt the best, so you need to feel him out. A year gives you a good read. Hill? Crazy deal. Youre right.

**** that I’m going hill all day after Brees. Dude is a ******* tank

**** Brees. **** Winston. **** Hill. They all suck until they prove something.

I thought I read an article that said Brees was OK with sharing "reps" with Hill. I think Brees needs the break to be peak performance at end of season. It also said (author speculation) that with Hill's new contract they are showing him he is their future QB. Winston, WTF?

I wonder what Winston's contract was worth? If cheap enough HERE would have been a good landing spot provided the contract was cheap but even then I don't think we have the caP space.

Salute the nation

They apparently like the Taysom Hill package with the read option stuff. I'm not sure they think he's the replacement for Brees but they like what he brings. That's why they drafted Tommy Stevens. He did a lot of that stuff at Penn State. In fact, PSU used him like Taysom Hill when McSorley was entrenched as the starter. They even created a new position called Lion for Stevens. Stevens then transferred to Miss State after did not win the starting job after McSorley left.

Signing Jameis was a great move. He does have upside. He has played well. I think he could be good in a more structure system rather than Arians encouraging him to chuck it down the field every play.

just glad it's the other black and gold team that signed Winston and not Pittsburgh. woof!
There is some rumors floating around Twitter that crab leg-grab leg turned town a more lucritive Steelers offer. Of course I am unsure if true as a rumor will leave you. But I can't say I am disappointed if true. He still comes across like an egghead to me. Not the position you want attached to that train of thought. If I am wrong I am wrong if I am right, aight.

Hill is 29. Not quite sure he'll still be a gadget player at 31.

There is a clone of Hill who played in Winnipeg last year. His name is Chris Streveler. He signed a futures contract with Arizona. He didn't cost 21 million and he is 25.

I've heard nothing about this rumor. I will say, if it was next year, Winston would have been a Steeler. Just bad timing with all of our QB parts in place.

Why next year? What will be different then?

I think he's suggesting the Duck may be migrating this season.

And, another year of tread on Ben's tires and some new or less worn Michelin's start looking pretty good.

They are doing the exact opposite of us.

His contract with the Saints was what we all expected. A one year deal. Now you might say that it gives them advantage of creating relationship with him if they want to end their time with Brees after thisi season and maybe it will. Truth is he will be a free agent after next season. He will be as available to the Steelers as anyone else. And frankly, if Ben doesn't hold up, I don't want someone "Saving the season" for another 8 or 9 wins. If Ben can't play for an extended period of time, I either want Rudolph to step to the top of the depth chart and become the man or I want 5 wins and draft a QB in the top third of the 2021 draft. If they aren't getting a For sure starter out of the gates then they can go get a bridge like Winston.

I never understood this logic of Ben going down and we end up in the top 5.

Our defense is too good just to tank. Just take a look at last year.

Thanks for finding the tweet. I just don't understand how the NO situation benefits Winston. He's 3rd at best. Personally, I think the tweet smells of a butthurt agent that had no offers for his QB and is trying to create a fabricated need. I think Winston would jump to learn under Tomlin, and this organization has no one behind Ben. It just doesn't make sense financially, or for Winston's ability to contribute, because both would have been higher in Pittsburgh.

And I mean't next year due to the salary cap blowing up next year. We have no money this year for the moves.

Interesting in seeing the amount that Winston signed for.

Looks like the source is a local Tampa Bay rag...

It could be completely fabricated for clout or it could be something he heard and has some partial truth. Maybe the Steelers offered a contract full of playing time incentives. It really doesn't matter if they did or not because Winston seems set on signing in New Orleans where he'll try to make enough of an impression that they'll consider him as the heir apparent to Drew Brees.

Ol crab leg-grab leg will probably like the seafood better down there anyways.[emoji848]
