I'm working on a full seven round mock draft for all teams but want to see what everyone thinks of players/positions. I did trades because I think the Steelers will be movers this upcoming draft trying to stockpile picks for next year and maximize picks for this year.

Trade #49 Steelers for #56, #153, & #154 2020 and 7th round 2021 Miami.
Trade #124 Steelers for #145 & #146 Eagles.

#56- Lloyd Cushenberry III OC/OG LSU
Checks the boxes for the Steelers as a power 5 school, above average SPARQ for position, position flexibility as he can play both OC and OG. Isn't an underclassman but this is round two so not going to check every box. Steelers have Feiler move to RG but he is an UFA next year, DeCastro and Pouncey are both UFA after 2021 and both will be over 32+ for the 2022 season. I feel Cushenberry is a backup this year, starting RG next year, and probably starting LG or OC in 2022.

#102 Raekwon Davis DL Alabama
Again checks a lot of boxes with power 5 school, high SPARQ, and can play several positions on the defensive line. Heyward, Aluala, McCullers, all free agents in 2021 and Tuitt is injury prone. Could be Buggs and Davis starting in 2021 for us. Davis is a huge, powerful man that can hold the point or push the pocket, and can get his hands up and interrupt throwing lanes. I honestly think if Wormley can show something we resign him, have Tuitt and Davis would round out the startes.

#135 Logan Wilson LB Wyoming
Wilson is a small school prospect that has a ton of productivity and raised some eyebrows at the combine. Chick and Red are gone and Vince is a FA after 2021. Gilbert looked good but more depth has to be a priority. Wilson had 409 tackles, 34.5 TFL, 7 sacks, 10 INTs, 14 PD, and 5 FF for his college career.

#145 Alex Highsmith Edge Charlotte
Again, Chick is gone and we need depth at OLB. Highsmith is a smart player with functional athleticism, good motor, and tons of production.

#146 Jacob Breeland TE Oregon
Breeland is a hard one to gauge because all you can go off is tape alone. But watching him he is a crisp route runner, hand catcher, good in-line blocker. He looks like one of the more complete TE's in this draft. Letting him sit for a year behind Ebron and McDonald is a good thing and I could see him moving up to #2 next year and cutting either McDonald or Ebron.

#153 AJ Dillon RB Boston College
Dillon is a one cut and up powerback but has quick feet and good long speed. SPARQ is off the charts and showed better than average hands last year but could definitely improve. Conner is a FA after this year and this gives us some insurance if we cannot resign.

#154 Myles Bryant CB Washington
Not the biggest or fastest CB but he is always around the ball and reminds me a ton of Hilton. Hilton is an URFA next year and his price tag might be too high.

#198 Tanner Muse S Clemson
Big imposing safety with great wheels. Probably gone at this point but I am just using CBS prospect rankings to make this easier. I could see him transitioning to ILB as well.

#232 Dezmon Patmon WR Washington St
Imposing 6-4 225lb receiver with sub 4.5 speed, 10"+ hands, and a great SPARQ. Receiver is a need with JuJu's contract coming up but I feel he's one player the Steelers will resign due to his age. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if he gets an extension before the season starts as his value might be down a little after last year. Regardless, Patmon is a low risk and high reward player.

Lot to like ....don't think the Steelers would do a trade this year. Unless they are trading one of next year's picks. I like Cush ...little late imo for a RB but I understand why you picked what you did. I wouldn't be shocked to see a ILBer and a OLber drafted. I think we will see a Olineman and a skilled position if not two. I am curious what positions get sacrificed this year so to the lack of selections.

So, I was floored that this kid (Dezmon Patmon) isn't a first rounder with the stats and measurables that you posted so I looked him up. There is an interview with him on youtube and I dont want to judge a kid by one interview alone, but based on what he said, He really sets no goals, he doesn't surround himself with goal oriented people, and he likes his free time. Pro players are much different and his talent alone isn't going to get him by at that level.

AJ DIllon would be a great addition IMO...But I like big backs.

Steelers only have 26 players on contract for 2021. They are signing XFL players left and right. I have to think they are going to want some extra picks for the next draft or two.

I literally went off CBS prospect value chart. If Cushenberry wasn’t there you can supplement him with Matt Hennessy or Robert Hunt. Though I feel Hunt doesn’t have value at center, just guard or RT.

Yeah, there’s a reason he is ranked so low. Who knows though if someone can light a fire under his butt maybe you get a first round talent in round 7. Like I said low risk high reward. You can’t make a kid 6-4 225lbs with 4.4 speed but the right coaching and motivation can turn a kid with those abilities into something special.

We are slotted 10 picks next year

.I think with the lack of a first they will be reluctant to trade down because you are already taking a hit not having a first. They want their need to match as high talent level as much as possible. We know picking fairly early in 2 there is a chance at a first round type talent.

With only 6 picks we can forget about them trading up as well.

I had no problem with your draft as I said, just don't see the Steelers taking that approach. We'll see though right?

Steelers approached the Fitz trade as their 2020 first round pick. Colbert also wants to have a pick in every round. So trading back with Miami would give them two 5th round picks where as of now they have 0.

The trade I did with the Eagles is less realistic in my opinion but it gave me the ability to fill another hole and the value at #124 wasn’t great as I could trade down and easily pick up the same quality of player 30 spots down.

I just feel with our cap situation, aging starters, lack of draft picks and depth behind starters makes us movers this draft. It’s a rarity for Colbert but making an in season trade and our first round pick to boot isn’t normal for him either.

I agree we are getting a coverage ILB no later than 5th round, so Oline, skill position, LB / S /OLB would be top 4 picks

I wrestled with the idea of going WR sooner but here’s the reason I didn’t. JuJu is 23, Johnson is 23, Washington is 23. Young receivers and I just feel the Steelers will give JuJu a contract this summer. Just their MO to sign young players coming into their prime.

I decided to focus on aging free agents and us probably wanting to replace them. I do think Feiler has a more than likely chance at a new contract in 2021 but that still leave a hole at OC and RG in 2021. Heyward I feel could be the exception to the rule (Jason Gildon) on signing an aging player. I love Heyward but IMO you have him finish out his contract and try to come to terms next year. Either way Alaulu, McCullers and Wormley are all free agents in 2021 even if they resign Heyward.

Two back to back picks (4th round) and a 7 the rounder the following year for a 7 spot move in the middle of the second. That seems overly optimistic

I could see a 4th being traded for an extra pick possibly not sure of the return. They could also trade next year their 4th knowing they will get a comp, for a 5th this year. Beyond these two scenarios serious doubt sets in...

With the recent signings I don't think there is one position that screams out as a need. Trading a 1st round for Minkah seems like a win.... we already know what kind of player we landed, had them on the roster for almost a full year already and I don't see anything in the 18 spot this year that I would put ahead of Minkahs potential to the team. Picking in the mid 2nd round may provide one of the top 2 at C/G, a possible stud RB falling, 2nd tier of WRs. Thus I do not think we will be movers as they can pick BPA from a few position categories. If they were to trade at all I would suspect it would involve next years picks on our part. I do see Miami as the team that would be the mover in this draft though... 14 picks .....they should be able to land some pretty good talent with their top 5 selections even if they don't move.
I can see them landing a QB, WR , OT, S and RB with great potential . Time will tell if they are as dumb as Cleveland with that amount of draft capital.

But I’m not talking about 2020 I’m talking about 2021. The year we don’t have Heyward, Alaulu, McCullers, Wormley, Feiler, Villanueva, Banner, Hilton, Haden, Conner, Dupree, Watt, or JuJu under contract. In 2021 Roethlisberger, Pouncey, DeCastro...

If we don’t get guys in the system this year we might have a lot of rookies starting and learning on the fly next year. I’m not saying we don’t resign some of those guys but the Steelers don’t like long term deals for players over 30 and 4 of those guys are.

This is my thought, Heyward, Banner, JuJu, Watt Dupree and Sutton get long term deals and Haden, Hilton, Villanueva, Feiler, Wormley, Conner and McCullers leave via free agency. Lots of new faces on the team come 2021.

I get what you are saying about the future......there are a lot of players status that will have to be dealt with.....hopefully Colbert is still around... wouldn't want to be a new GM walking into the situation.
All of this may be a mute point depending the affect of how Covid 19 forces league cancellations or postponements. How the new CBA deals with these issues will be complicated.

Sort of.

If they address say something other than RT or G in 2. That ramps up the need in 3 IMO. because the best available right now is a player that hasn't started full time in some time. Move the RT in and you have two RTs that have never started at the position for a whole season. In the event mentioned I think you either should draft one in 3 if not 2 or bring another vet in.....

I think tanner muse will go late rnd 4 another guy I would look at is khalek Hudson dynamite play maker who played the viper spot in Michigan D which is Edge mixed with S.
if you watch his hightlights all 3 years he can be lined up all over as a OLB, ILB SS/FS and will wreak havoc
