2020 Significant Dates

Nice find HOOT, great to have a reference .

Now when you said significant dates,....................... I was thinking a whole different "ball"game.

A key date is this week when the players will apparently vote on a new CBA that will include a 17 game season. The owners have given them just about everything else but they want the 17 game season. The players had been dead against that but apparently, they may vote for this as the owners did concede to so many of their demands. If they vote "no", we are probably looking at a strike in 2021.

And, for us Steelers fans, this week we are supposed to find out a status update on Big Ben! Go Ben! We need you back!

Do you know if the proposal includes fewer preseason games?

As for Ben, I don't recall the date of his exam, but I wouldn't expect to hear anything official for a while. Fewer pressers this time of year.

They need to cut back to two pre-season games. Let teams set up scrimmages if they choose.

Howsabout we just get rid of the non-active player bullshit while we're at it. 53 man squad and only 46 dress is ******* retarded in an era of
"keeping the players healthy" crap.

I've never even heard an attempt to explain why this is done. It makes no sense.

I've seen that Hoot and I get it. But there's more healthy players on the PS. Bring them up and make it "fair". Injuries happen to everyone. Maybe there would be less injuries if there were more players allowed to "get a helmet".

They are getting paid, they have insurance, lol.

Let them play!

Not condoning, just sharing what I found. Personally, I want a minor league type thing. Won't happen, I get that.

It didn't originally but what I read said in order for the players to accept the 17 games, the preseason and/or training camp would have to be cut back.

The owners need to drop the 17 game bullshit. Add a second bye week to the season and that's about all I would change with the schedule.

You forgot the date to FRANCHISE TAG Stud Dupree

Ben is scheduled to see his doctor on the 21st and is hoping to get clearance to start throwing light objects like a tennis ball. He still plans to be ready for OTA's in May.

I was gonna say one date matters. If Ben doesn't play, my great preference would be to let Rudolph play the season and either become the Starter or suck and we get a high 2021 pick to take a QB.

That's what will happen. As much as many want us to bring in a top FA QB to be a backup, it ain't happening. Ben's cap hit is too high to get someone like Mariota or the others that have been mentioned. Those guys are looking for teams to start on. I doubt we have anyone different than the 4 QB's we currently have. 3 of them will be on our roster to start 2020.

And frankly as much as I enjoyed the veneer of contending this season and the games they did win, it was only because they traded for Fitzpatrick and had no chance at a QB anyways. I'm not interested in putting a bandaid on a gaping wound. If Ben doesn't play then sink or swim with what you got. And if you are gonna sink, you might as well drown. They got Ben with the 6-10 2003 season.
