Troy Polamalu Says He Feels Responsible For Antonio Brown's Downfall
posted by Wil Leitner - Jan 31, 2020

Troy Polamalu: “Talking about Antonio, I was one of the leaders on the team when he was with Pittsburgh and I definitely feel a tremendous burden now… As a teammate, I tried to be a better brother to him, and honestly I feel a responsibility for the way he has behaved recently, and not being able to reach him when I was his teammate. Our locker room was very close, and we definitely had a very close brotherhood from the previous players that I was teammates with, and we’ve all done our best to try and reach out to him. He’s lived a very, very, very tough life and can’t trust anyone.” (Full Interview Below)
Listen to former Pittsburgh Steelers All-Pro Troy Polamalu join Outkick the Coverage to discuss his relationship with former teammate Antonio Brown, who has become the most infamous NFL player of the era for his cataclysmic fall from grace.

Polamalu showed remorse when talking about Brown, his teammate for five years in Pittsburgh from 2010-2014, and says he feels ‘responsible’ for Brown’s downfall. Polamalu was the captain of the defense, and one of the most influential and respected veteran players on the team when Brown was first starting his career, and says he feels at fault that he couldn’t make a positive impact on Brown.

Brown’s legal battles are well established, as frozen feet and illegal helmets last summer quickly gave way to sexual assault allegations and arrests on burglary with battery.

Check out the interview below as Polamalu says he feels a ‘tremendous burden’ years later.

Troy is just a good man nothing wierd about it at all. He simply wishes he could have impacted him enough to where Brown took a different path. I doubt he could have done anything more but that didn't stop him from wishing better.

Troy is a deeply religious, spiritual man. He was a team leader that feels he didn't do all that he could've to help AB. I can understand that...but he also says that AB didn't trust anyone. There's only so much you can do with a man that doesn't trust or even understand another man trying to help him to overcome a life full of difficult obstacles.

Cut it loose Troy.
This is not the time to be focusing on AB. The Hall of Fame awaits. No matter how nice of a person you are ..... it is not going to assist in AB's situation. Let his agent and all who encouraged him to take this path deal with the aftermath. AB will just betray you in the end to further his own cause. Taking responsibility for someone who won't take responsibility for themselves is pointless.

This is just typical Troy. I think of all the Steeler Payers I have the most respect for Troy. Did you watch the interview with Troy getting the call for the HOF with his kids there. Saying he doesn't believe he is worthy of the Hall. A truly humble person, wanting to take the focus off himself. And truly genuine. Man,a once in a generation type player.

Compassion is wonderful.

Thank you Troy, for taking the time on your great day, to demonstrate care, empathy and responsibility for a troubled human.

If anything good happens for AB, it probably starts from the actions of someone like Troy.

Some people can’t be helped if they don’t want help.. AB is one of those people

AB must first admit he has issues and seek professional help. He cannot do this on his own.
Put football aside for now and focus on getting better. You have anger issues, insecurities about yourself as a person, you are not empathetic to your fellow human and lack respect towards others.
You wallow in petty jealousies and are never happy for another’s success. You are truly ungrateful and forget what others have done for you in order to obtain your success and wealth.
