Alan Faneca was named to the Pro Bowl nine times. He was a six-time first-team All-Pro and member of the NFL's All-Decade Team of the 2000s. Now is the time for him to go to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

if any guard from that era belongs in hall its Alan Faneca. he played the game the WPA way and any yinz will tell ya thats the only way. u get on the line scrimmage and you hit that mofo lined up against you in the mouth every snap! you win the line of scrimmage! whether its ya enemy, your bro, your cousin or hell even ur mother as in the case of Joe Montana ( Montana tells a great story of his mom telling him to be tuff cuz he's from WPA and WPA ppl are tuff!) you hit and you keep hitting and Alan lined every f'ing day whether or a game or practice and he hit and that hitting became contagious. I remember the must win against the bears in the wild superbowl run under cowher ... faneca and bus destroyed a great defense that win launched that Super Bowl run and u can argue he was the MVP his block sprung Parker. if the hall of fame is about the embodiment of a career of hard work, dedication, and success one derives there of, he deserves to be in the Hall of Fame. he wasn't born in WPA but he played like it and thats says it all!

How about 6 All-Pro selections as a Guard in the NFL, and it would've been 7 if he wasn't so unselfish and made the move to LT during the 2003 season. Didn't he even move to Center for a time in 1999? Super Bowl winner and made the key block that sprung the RB open to go on and have the longest run for a TD in NFL history at the time.

There, there's his case, done.

Polamalu seems a lock. With Cowher, Shell and Polamalu, i think Faneca will have to wait at least 1 more year. Faneca will no doubt get in there in the near future.

I hope so but every year that goes by makes it harder for him to get in

Maybe, but he's locked to get in eventually (in my opinion). 9x pro bowler, 6x all-pro, All NFL decades team accolades, and he was widely considered the best Guard of a generation.

Maybe it's the homer in me. But Alan Faneca is getting enshrined and I really have no doubt about it eventually happening. Hines? Worried. Alan? No doubt in my mind, he's getting in.

If they factor in Hines SB performance and his blocking skills he would make it. But I doubt they would give his blocking ability much thought.

Alan was to "gaurd" as DIRT was to center, definately HOF material.
