College Football Bowl Thread

Yes
Was curious what people thought long term. I know he is a top prospect but that doesn't always translate into NFL success. Leaf, Russell, etc were high touted. From what I saw of the kid he is impressive.

A lot of times it the team a player goes to as well. Some teams just suck at developing a young QB. Others don't have the other pieces or strength of coaches/locker room to help a young guy make the transition to the NFL. Most times these young QB's are going to a perennially ****** team.

I think Lawrence will be a good NFL QB if he goes to the right team. If he goes to Cleveland he will probably suck and never be allowed to grow into a real QB. Burrow and Lawrence are the best QBs I've seen in a long time.

I'd add Tua to that list...

I do not see all the hype in him either. The dude can't even run down a lumbering QB...

Yeah, everybody should probably stop double teaming him every passing down, and see what happens.

he's a good player but I don't get the hype either. I've listened to every commentator say he's the best DE to come out in years. Some said he was the best they've ever seen. I've seen him be a beast but he isn't all the time.

ESPN trying hard to sell that targeting call. It was bullshit. He didn't lower his head to spear a guy. His head naturally lowered as he specifically lowered himself precisely to avoid contact to the helmet. Lawrence then ducked down into him. They can have 20 ex-refs say it was a good call. It wasn't.

Yeah, Burrow and Lawrence are both incredible prospects.

Lawrence is a different animal though. He reminds me a lot of Steve Young, given his combination of passing technique and athleticism.

They're both the kind of QBs who can change the nature of entire organizations.

Honestly, the idea of Burrow as a Bengal worries me.

Ohio State in trouble if Dobbins is done. He's a huge part of their offense

Also people may not like the rule but you can't hit anyone in the head or neck area with the crown of your helmet.
That's the key, he hit with the crown of his helmet. No matter what, that doesn't mean OSU has to give up a TD on that drive.

Clemson must have a leprechaun on their sideline...THAT WAS NOT ROUGHING THE KICKER!!! The dude jumped into the OSU player - wow...

It was a good call because that is exactly what the rule says. You don't like it but it is right.

The crown is the top of the helmet meaning you need to drop your helmet to near parallel with the ground to actually hit with the crown. That OSU guy was nowhere near that position. His helmet was only somewhat dipped which is the natural tackling position. How many tackles are made with the defender leading with his facemask? Not many.

If that was a targeting, it could be called 40 times per game.

Ohio State better start trying to move the chains instead of looking for big plays.

I'll never be convinced that wasn't a step-in by the NCAA to make it a ball game. Clemson about to punt again, down 16-0, getting dominated. No flag on the play. One of the fastest guilty verdicts on targeting I've ever seen. Gives them a first down and takes a good DB out of the game. They immediately go after the replacement DB and get a PI. TD, huge momentum shift.

Now, the roughing the kicker was a dumbass call by the coaching staff. They're punting from their 15, Buckeyes likely to get the ball at midfield. Instead, they go after the punt and get flagged. Of course, Clemson gets a td and takes the lead.

Take this TD away, you cheating ********!
