the discussion is real:

Is Tomlin showing much really?

You may think that he is, and I'm cool with that. I don't think that I am the prayers answered to get football gods. I will say this - there is zero creativity in this coaching staff, even when the wildcat has been used. There is zero deception in any play, the calls are really predictable (because the standard is the standard), and the expectation is that we can line up, call a play, run it very well, because we can impose our will on any team. The players just don't execute.

It's old. Many of you know that I've been done with Tomlin for many years. How many of you are there now? It just seems that there are so many philosophical angles the guy maintains that give the advantage to the opposition over and over again.

It's been my stance that Ben has covered for the lame coaching for many years. Now that he is not there to bail Tomlin out, it all looks stupid. Before you say "It's the OC, not Tomlin" remember that he is the only constant. There have been some pretty good and some really lousy OCs during Ben's tenure. Why is this still going on?

I said my piece. I'll start watching when the cheaters are no longer allowed to cheat, and we get a new coaching staff. Until then, we all know what will happen, and I don't have energy to pour down a drain. I'm too friggin' old for that.

Go Steelers.

Oh, I have been done with Cool Shades for quite some time now. The last straw for me was the playoff loss at home to that juggernaut offense known as the Jacksonville Jaguars. I’m so done with Tomlin and hope that Snyder seriously pursues him and we can recoup some draft picks. Let him spread his cliches in DC.

Would be the best thing for all parties. Please, Snyder. Come after the great MT with everything you can muster!

Players seem to love playing for Tomlin. How they feel should not be discounted. I think he’s a motivator more than an Xoxo guy. However, I think we see now that he had been dealing with two strong childish superstars over the last couple of years. I don’t know if any coach could have done any better AND kept them on the team. Easy to say woulda, shoulda. Since he’s not going anywhere, my hope is he will get better and we can win with him or in spite of him.

Time for new blood, yes he will not have a losing season another stat that means nothing. Time for position coaches that can teach some improvement in a young group of players.

Have always been a MT supporter, but Last couple years I’ve said it’s time. After this season, I’m back on the fence. Seriously, I can’t recall a year where we have had so many injuries, losses of huge talent, but yet still on the verge of a playoff birth! I also think, as I look around the league, who is that better than him? I can only think of two. **** if he counts maybe Harballs and Sean Payton. Everyone else what have they done and or doing for extended time. Ahhh. But I still think MT has wasted a HOF QB.

MT has done more with these scuba and youth than he ever has with our main top tier talent, why? I donno but I question that. I also think that when BB goes we won’t be as bad as the 80s were. Maybe glass half full guy right now.

It is multi fold. He is a good motivator. So when you have talent on your team with a league full of mediocrity that can get you part of the way. But you either have to be a x and o coach or make damn sure your assistants are. Plus your GM and coach to make sound off-season decisions as a wrong move here and there can handcuff your season. So there is an element of each coming into play. As well as a little luck regarding the Mink trade that gave the D something it has sorely missed. A playmaker in the secondary.

MT is an easy target bc he ***** up a lot. But it isn’t always on him. **** sake why in the he’ll do we have this OC. BB not being there shows his weakness. .....or maybe it doesn’t again I donno. 3rd and 4th sting QBs playing. Rough year that turned out better than we thought. We’re still going to the playoffs. Lynch is going to beat KC and NE. Then the SB. Let’s gooool

Actually Lynch is the 4th string QB. Rudolph WAS 2nd, Duck 3rd. While YOU may not consider Rudolph and Hodges 2 & 3, the Steelers did. So your 3rd and 4th string is just fake news.

That OC was intended for BigBen because he is comfy that he will let BigBen be himself. But when Ben went down it wasn't an IT QB calling drives, he had to actually shine with less and call plays. An unfortunately he wasn't / isn't up to the challenge. Running on just about every play on first down is living in your fears.

It is hard to ignore the barren branches of his coaching tree, that is an astonishing fact that is virtually unheard of in the NFL and I wonder if it trancends to other sports leagues. It speaks volumes.

Dungy, Holgrem, Walsh, Belicheat, and to a lesser extent Cowher all had coaching trees.

Tomlins coaching tree looks like a stick in the mud.

Actually at the start of the year
1. BB
2. Dobbs
3 MR
4. duck.

I think if the Redskins rumors are at all valid, the on-the-field value the Steelers could procure from such a trade would vastly outweigh what Tomlin brings to the table at this point. Sure, it seems the players enjoy playing for him, but this team needs to re-stock some talent quickly, especially offensively, and prepare for Ben's imminent departure. And having already traded away their first round pick in 2020, this is going to prove to be difficult otherwise.

They love playing for him because they are not held responsible for failure, just go through the motions, not prepared, no desire to win
Please provide examples of when the team stepped up and won a needed game...oh and please do not say the Super Bowl, it was 11 years ago!

The D has come into their own by 3 non drafted players. Minkah, Nelson and Barron. They solidified it. Not because of coaching. Watt has incredible talent that he doesn’t need instructional development. notice when TJ rests Bud is non existent? This team still has piss poor coaching.

Here's what we learned this year, we still need a #1 WR and RB

and we need a bigger china cabinet

other than that, good year for the scrappy backups, and the defense, mostly

Let me add. Value in positional coaches. Soooo under rated.

I have more confidence in Tomlin now than in awhile. We do need need a much better play calling OC. Butler has even improved or Tomlin has whomever you want to give credit.

Yes with a maturing unit of what should be an all star team the defense is better. Clap. Clap. Clap. They gave up like 4 third down conversions on the first drive to score a TD and everyone knew that was probably half of what the offensive output could possibly be.
