As I sit here appreciating the win ...

and pondering some moments of the game. I am putting on my best Eastwood expression to go over some points with a few questions sprinkled in. And if we are lucky perhaps a few SteelerNationers will answer those questions.

you got to ask yourself one question do you feel lucky? well doya punk?

The Good

The defense Who am I to short change this unit when they have been creating sacks and turnovers? Number 2 in turnovers second only to the cheats. And we all know why they are always in the right place at the right time. Good job limiting their rushing attack to 86 yards on the day.

Tell me why was Bush on Tyler Boyd?

Trailing on the play he created his first forced fumble. Yeah let us put the cherry on-a-top of an attractive rookie campaign.

Watt is having a DPOY type season, can you believe one of our very own posters pimped him late in the draft process while naming 15 other players he liked?

Man cooch really nailed that one! Fitz was Johnny on the scene with a nice fumble return. Nelson gave us his best shut down corner impersonation.Barron with a beautiful play that appeared to be a safety from where I sat.

Was that play not reviewable? challengeable?

Grave digger in the last three games has 20 tackles a sack and 3 tackles for a loss . Quietly doing well in Tuitt's absence. Haden showed a short memory after a rocky start with some nice breakups later when it matter the most. Heyward was his usual disruptive self, and even Bud Dupree chipped in with a strip sack fumble recovery. Alvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvviiiiiiiiiiin!

Washington Man was two yards short of a 100 yard day. And how sweet that Hines Wardish stiff arm was that screamed, GET OUT THE WAY!

Whyte He was a nice little jitterbug with 6 carries for 43 yards. Not bad for coming off the Bears practice squad to gametime action.

Benny Snail Football Yeah that slow RB was two yards short of an 100 yard rushing effort.

Can I get a Snell yeah ! ?

The Bad

Rudy Two 30 some passer ratings in a row ended with a benching. You have to wonder how much that concussion affected his overall game. A rough week for our poor Rudolph that may not get to play in anymore reindeer games. Let us see what Santa has to say about this next week. I am mailing my request to the North Pole for a Steeler playoff appearance. Man give a big kid his wish....:becky:

The Ugly

Came before the game when a clevehole fan decided to pinata her interpretation of Rudolph getting hit with a helmet. Yeah a lot of swing and misses there *****, just like the history of your franchise. Your city is so ******* ugly Modell up and moved away. You act like your mistake by the lake team is relevant. **** you can't even win right. Not that you have to worry about that happening often. So while your team enjoys yet another year of comfy sofa playoff watching. You can suck down with your few remaining teeth a cold beverage of your team was never good enough, is not good enough now, and will never be good enough in the future. Ol factory of sadness.

Excellent post slash !!!

TJ WATT, I'm glad that name is associated with the STEELERS. Truely a force and yes DPOY candidate.

The benching was needed and done so with time to actually have a chance at winning the game. A lot of times coaches wait till to far in the hole to do something like that and fortunately DUCK had just enough.q

As for the stupid beotch and the piñata well, you've summed it up nicely. Way to represent the factory of sadness for your city missy.
**** the Browns Oh and throw in the CHEATRIOTS as well.

I know this was against the lowly Bungles but it begs to question why more effort isn't put into the run game on a weekly basis ? We got a QB situation and one would surmise that a quality OL could produce some relief for the WR's to learn to run some decent patterns by making teams respect the run game at least a little bit. They showed some potential in this game at least.

With the play of Hargrave since Tuitt went out, it begs to question, why the **** the genius Tomlin didn't use the 3(Cam, Tuitt, and Hargrave) of them alot more last season when our 2DL defense was getting gouged and giving away 4th quarter leads.

I would have to see stats on what percentage of the time teams are stacking the box. I want to lean on that possiblity over the line run block regressing. But it could very well be some of both...

If Steelers can't afford Hargrave and Tuitt, are they better off keeping Hargrave who stays healthy and releasing Tuitt who seems injury prone?

You think it might be the backs? Snell comes back, and Whyte is added, and suddenly the run game is working. It ain't like Samuels, and Edmonds are some studs that were being stuffed. It was the Bengals though. Let's see if Snell and Whyte can make some hay vs Cleveland.

Sure that can come into play too. As Samuels has been struggling toting the rock. His saving Grace is his pass catching. And let's be honest Edmunds might be nothing more than a fringe try hard guy.

This Oline has never been an Oline that can line up and just run right a defense when the defense knows it's coming. They aren't road graders, this line was built for the passing NFL, use the pass to set up the run. Asking them to be road graders all of sudden is like asking Bettis to be great at getting around the corner. That's expecting them to be something they are not.
We need to line up in mostly spread offenses, 3 WR's, Vance lined up at a traditional TE spot and move him around, slot, wide try to find a mismatch, and one RB. You have to spread that defense out then run it at them.
Bringing in Banner, and two TE's isn't going to work often vs solid defenses, ever wonder why we are one of the absolute worse teams when it comes to short yardage.

I would say Decastro can pull with the best of them. But they could use a matching option on the other side... Pouncey ditto...

The one play definitely was NOT a safety. Barron made contact with the QB at the 1 yard line or so and pushed him back into the endzone. The ball gets spotted where he first made contact, not where he pushed him to. No safety. Would have been nice, though.

1. Watt is a monster. They should make sure he never gets close to a year left on his contract.

2. Bush is pretty much what I thought he'd be. He still struggles against TEs and can get lost in the wash on running plays. If not for jumping on fumbles that others created and finally creating one of his own after he was beaten you'd hardly know he was on the field. I didn't notice him at all yesterday until that one play.

3. TDX27 is right. That was not a safety.

4. The refs need to get a better feel for pass interference. That one call on the bungles was horrible. Absolutely horrible. If that had been on a Steelers player this board would have exploded. The refs have been very favorable to the Steelers this year. No one should be complaining about the calls.

I was watching the end of the Carolina - New Orleans game and saw my 1st PI reversal. They didn't call an obvious PI on New Orleans on the play. The replay showed obvious interference but no one thought the officials would do the right thing. They did!. They came back and called the PI. It didn't help Carolina because they couldn't score anyway and their kicker sucks.

I still feel Bush's pluses far outshine his minuses. His overall body of work has been solid. Both areas that he has struggled in he has also made plays in. He is what I expect from a rookie. Good and bad. I think you hardwired your opinion of him from the beginning. But I am willing to bet the coaches are happy with his overall progress.

I still want to know why Bush is covering Cincy's best WR that far downfield

I have no idea why they put some of these players in unfavorable matchups. But a very good question.

Isn't everyone hardwired into their opinion? The board was full of "Bush should be the rookie DPOY" now not so much. Again take away the fumbles that were gifts by the other team and he's play ok. Is he making splash plays around the LOS? Is he slashing through the LOS and making great tackles? No. He's a rookie ILB right now. The Steelers have even cut back on his snaps the past few weeks.

Also just because the pluses outshine the minuses doesn't mean that he isn't what I thought. I've said repeatedly that he'll be a decent ILB. He's a small version of Timmons.

Some people's opinions change over time. You seem to focus in a little more of his negatives than positives and that hasn't changed. But whatever we don't have to agree on everything. Btw he has done everything you mentioned in one game or another. I don't expect to see all of your wants in one game. But collectively ? I have seen positive in every aspect of what you want in a ILBer. I won't label him as a Timmons as his body of work is too small to put a stamp on him. Like we often do when it comes to Bush we will have to agree to disagree.

Of course they change over time but people generally need evidence to change them. Why would I change when he is almost exactly what I thought he'd be? Everyone else is focused on his positives and they get highlighted every time he does anything. Which is why it's been quiet about him for weeks now. He hasn't really done anything. I don't mind agreeing to disagree.

I disagree. The QB was NOT 'in the grasp' until they were in the end zone. This ain't flag football where the touch initiate a player being ruled down. The tackle must be completed or the whistle should blow the play dead.

Now, I was not 'listening' to the broadcast at the bar so I'll have to go back and rewatch the game...

Hilarious!!!

I actually feel sorry for Bengals fans. How ******* bad is your team, that a patchwork Steeler team consisting of a third string QB, a 4th string RB and a Bears Practice squad RB, essentially 8th string Wideouts on the field and missing a Probowl Center...Beats your collective *****. If I was slated to be a #1 draft pick in this upcoming draft I start popping anti-depressants.

wow, Snell was only 2 yards away from 100 on the day? Not too shabby at all

Some would say it T'aint so

because Snell is just to slow
