Have no idea why Rudolph is apologizing today for "his part" in the ordeal on Thursday. In this league, the person who retaliates gets the penalty and usually the fine 90% of the time. The "instigator" if you will, rarely even gets a fine or anything. Why they are saying Rudolph should get at least a $30-50k fine is ludicrous to me and he shouldn't be apologizing. The Clowns illegally targeted him and our receivers all game long and Miles took a cheap shot at him at the end of the game. He barely retaliated other than trying to get Miles off of him as Miles had illegally sacked him and was holding him on the ground. No apology needed the way I see it.

Is every player who pulls anothers facemask or has a scuffle this weekend going to apologize for it? This happens on a weekly basis, in almost every game. I never hear a player apologize for it, why should Rudolph?

I see no reason for Mason to apologize. I'm not sure why we were even throwing there, game was over, we just lost 2 WR's to head shots, just hand the ball to hyphen and get the hell out of there.

Browns fans can be awfully stupid at times... you know they say that DOG stands for Dumb Ohio Guy after all...
They have freeze frames that makes it look like he kicked garrett in the junk or grabbed him there later, which you see is clearly not the case if you aren’t a biased idiot...

Mason got grabbed within a second of releasing the ball... Garrett drags him backwards and a couple seconds later pulls him to the ground and lays on him... you can watch the game clock... he definitely put him down head first.. mason shoves his head then pulls at him... but he grabs mason by the facemask and violently twists him around till it comes off...

Mason goes to get his helmet... he is literally reaching for it when garrett snaps... multiple people have now said it wasn’t anything said to him either.. another brownie wish scenario

Mason cannot be fined more than 35 g for fighting iirc.. per the cba... anything past that he could win back on appeal... there is plenty of past precedent for his actions not resulting in a fine...

EVERYONE seems to be letting the true culprits off the hook, the REFEREES. This game should have never gotten this far out of hand. The officials chose this venue by NOT calling all the head shot hits and especially those to MASON RUDOLF. Thew league acts as if this was a spontaneous thing and it wasn't as it was a incident of no accountability. The BROWNS players saw how they were not being penalized for the flagrant head shots so kept at it and became bolder and bolder until the peak, which was Myles Garret blatant ordeal.

I've read comments from the Trib fb page that Mason started it, got what he deserved by escalating it and then got off with no punishment because he doesn't look like Myles Garrett. Now the locker room is divided because he got Pouncey fined and suspended. lol Can't make this up!

Stupidity.. nothing but stupidity.

All I have to say is the Steelers will be the ones that "start" it in 2 weeks or they should. I would not fault the Steelers at all for targeting skill players and Mayfields knees. There is no question watching the replay of that game that the Clowns were out to purposely hurt as many Steelers as possible. You never want to root for a player to be injured but in this case, karma may be a *****.

I think the Browns coach should have been suspended and fined big.

But since that won't happen I'd have no issue with the alternative. Going back a few years on the rules of engagement.

The kid takes all the blame as the coaches say and do nothing, Receivers cannot get separation and the TE's are useless either no catch or nothing after the catch. Mason even had to give a speech of the helmet incident you know came from Rooney and Godel

And, if the coach and owner truly wanted to show that the Clowns have changed and are under decent leadership, they would have immediately suspended Miles pending the leagues investigation. Instead, they back him like he did nothing wrong. The Clowns will always be the mistake on the lake.

I have no problem with that as long as it goes both ways.

Mason just watched Ben get ripped apart all offseason for not taking accountability for his actions, of course he is going to apologize for causing all that ;)

No we don't initiate ****. We go out there and win the game. Be physical within the comfines of the rules. Plus you can bet Goodell will have that short leash handed out to the refs. No just win and win convincingly.

Oh wait, this article is about his apologizing for the fracas? Whoops, I assumed it was about him just sucking and needing to play better, hence my gif.

Those of you want to go out and retaliate obviously aren't playing in the game. You'll lose that game. We go out and play hard and win the game. Both teams will be held in check as far as retaliation goes and penalties will be flying flag city. Let them get the flags and let the score board do the talking. I'd bet every STEELERS player is thinking the same thing. Injury Is prominent enough and the game is played that you protect yourself at all times.

With all the fines and suspensions, the steelers have made it very clear about the head hunting and non-calls....... Officiating will be extra cautious and flags will fly for even the most minor things. PLaY the game , WIN the game!

Man, I appreciate the high road you are navigating. I gotta admit, I'd have trouble driving it. A zillion years ago, I picked up rugby on a local men's side. We had a crosstown rival where the games were hard fought and often over the edge. More than once things went to some **** shots, punches, elbows, shoves, etc. Games could be biter, but I can tell you, if someone on that team pulled a stunt like that on one of my guys and we played two weeks later the police would have had to come.

When I coached, I taught what you are saying - let the scoreboard do the talking. But sometimes...sometimes that is a damn hard road to drive.

WTF? Idiots.

Just caught it for a moment, but that little loudmouth d-bag Andrew Filliponi was flapping his gums about not taking Lamar Jackson, Mason Rudolph being da debil all of a sudden etc. I can't stand that loudmouth punk.

Garrett started it when he hit Rudolph late and pulled him to the ground. Pulling the back of his helmet didn't hurt him at all. There is no excuse for swinging a helmet at another player. He should never play another NFL game again. You can't use a piece of equipment as a weapon. If I were Rudolph I wouldn't apologize for anything about this incident.

Also for all the race baiters out there: If this had been Jackson instead of Rudolph nobody would be calling for Jackson to be fined or suspended. It's just ignorant.

Tomlin, Rudolph or Pouncey shouldn't apologize for a damn thing. The headhunting was just as bad as tackling our QB as the play and game was over. Bush league stuff.

I never looked at the race angle until I read the comments which just make me shake me head. Browns fans are just as asinine calling for Mason to be punished.

I knew the race issue was coming as soon as I watched some of the players defending Garrett and his horrific actions. There is no justification for hitting someone in the head with a helmet. I don't care what color you are. But that's the way things are today.
