If that incident occurred outside the stadium, Miles Garrett would be charged with assault. Is there a reason why this wouldn’t be possible inside on the field? Not saying it should go that far but it begs a question...

It’s a funny line. I recall years ago police were involved when that NHL player used his stick and blasted dude in the throat. Can’t recall if chargers came out of it or not. I wanna say he was charged with aggravated assault

I was listening to Mad Dog sports on my ride to work, and they are saying that calling that assault is a bridge too far. Some of their examples were absurd. I disagree. It becomes assault the minute he uses that helmet as a weapon with intent to injure.

The one good point they made comparison to is that of a pitcher throwing at another player intentionally. They said by the standard applied to Garrett, pitchers that do that sort of thing should be charged with assault. I agree. They should. Intentionally throwing at a player's head is assault.

The play was whistled dead. The scuffle continued. Using the helmet with intent to harm is assault.

I'm probably wrong but I'm thinking its only a criminal offense if the victim presses charges and I doubt Rudolph will.

Selfishly as a fan, I think if assault charges were filed, Garrett’s suspension would end up being longer, so Rudolph should make amends to the team for playing like garbage 🤣

Per TMZ, the police were questioned if charges would be filed. They stated NO. No one filed a complaint. Soooo

The agent for Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph isn't ruling out any legal options in the aftermath of a late-game melee Thursday night.

"I am gathering all information and no options have been removed from the table," Tim Younger said when reached by text message Friday morning.

Mason should want to make that game disappear, not splash your incompetence all over National Breaking News headlines for the whole world to see for months and months

Angry Black Man attacks White QB, prosecutors won't touch that

If someone is swinging a hard object at your head on the street and you pulled a weapon and defended yourself or someone else this was happening to, there would be no charges filed against you.

NFL rules for swinging helmet is a 15 yd penalty flag and game ejection

Not assault with deadly weapon

Plus its a slippery slope that doesn’t need explored... assult lands him in jail a few days or community service more likely... slap on the wrist fine... whats that accomplish... nfl suspension costs him big bucks and his team pretty much dies without him...way more painful

Justice in 2 weeks.

Steelers should just not talk about it publicly anymore and use all that pent up anger and energy at our place in a few days..

Whining is not in the Pittsburgh Steelers dna

Yes Spike like never before!

I’m sure coach Tomlin is going to use this as motivation for the remainder of the season.

I'd say the multiple helmet to helmet hits by the Browns during game play were assaults as well. Those DB's should be receiving fines

I’m sure they will...

I won’t be surprised if that fat pig Kitchens had bounties out

Unleash hell?

absolutely. But first, take ping-pong privileges away cuz there is alotta above the neck coachin' up and things of that nature about to go down.
