WTF? Does he have something seriously wrong with him?

One thing is certain, the Steelers consider Jayrone Elliott the better OLB at this stage.

Have to look at it this way. At least the better ST LBer...

Perhaps the Steelers just don't see him in the same light as fans. Doesn't appear the Giants or 30 other teams currently do either.

Still hope he at least makes the PS.

it just seems like a no brainer to us fans. short at the position, he had a good pre-season, knows the system, cheap, oh well good luck Jayrone!!

Sure seems like it, but my eyes don't lie to me and they were watching a guy (granted, it was against backups) who could rush the passer in the preseason. Steelers need pass rushers desperately. Cheap, hungry & knows the system; seems like a no-*******-brainer to me. Unless this guy has something considerably wrong with him. Why'd he make the final 53 and now he can't even make the PS?

Slash, remember he never even got a chance on STs until preseason was almost over? Had to publicly proclaim he loves and wants to play STs and then voila, he's playing STs. My buddy is head of the Tuzar Skipper fan club and it sounds like he's wearing off on me.

Skipper might be like Debo was at the start of his career where he just bounces between PS and active roster until it clicks. He clearly showed some flashes in pre-season. We have too many hurt players carried on the roster to bring someone in who can't play right away.

In pro sports the hardest thing to do is establish yourself without Tomlins pet intangible of pedigree... many ufas and low round picks never get the chance they deserve because unless they display hof caliber talent right out of the box, no matter how well they play they will be fodder to retain guys with less talent and more experience or draft picks that will get time and multiple chances to play simply because of the round they were taken in...

Harrison was a prime example, but most cannot afford to keep chasing the dream and give up after a while... also the only thing more expendable than a low round pick or udfa your team signed, is one that was cut and picked up by another team... as soon as any injuries to other positions come, that guy is toast because second or third team coaches have no investment in their success

NY Giants signed Skipper to their practice squad.

This team really annoys me sometimes with what they do in player development on defense. Your greatest show on turf idea didn't pan out on offense, thank god you're forced to focus on the defense. It took all of 8+ years

And who could possibly argue with the Steelers ability to judge defensive football flesh. Cough (Jarvis Jones), mutter (Artie Burns), snort( Morgan Burnett), giggle (Bud Dupree), chuckle (Jon Bostic).

Well let's break that down just a bit. Bush was traded up for which most didn't have a problem with. He was a top ten pick. Watt was a consensus stud that everyone wanted. Fitz has a hell of a lot to prove if he ends up costing a top ten pick, Hargrave is playing his last 10 games as a Steeler because he will out price what he actually does here. I'd say Cam was a great off the radar pick but sometimes disappears much like Tuitt. Haden was a good snag and is hurt a lot as is Tuitt and Heyward.
Like buddy if you draft defense first round seven straight years you are gonna get some hits. Eight when you include Fitz plus all the trades and FA's. And they are almost a top third defense. Yeahhhhhhhhhhh!

Elliot is the more polished player.

Skipper was signed to the Giants PS. Oops sorry Tibs didn't see your post

Sent from my moto g(7) power using Steeler Nation mobile app

you think maybe he has a ped, or substance issue that isn't reported in first time offense? just conjecture.

Taking my que from Coach,........... I'll hold to a one word answer........... NO

Salute the nation

Yeah, you’re right. The Tomlin/Colbert braintrust who brought in TJ Watt, Cam, Tuitt, Haden, Fitz, Bush, Nelson, Edwards, Hargrave seem to know what they’re doing.

Ummmm, Fitz / Nelson / Haden were already developed players but yes I get that that pendulum swings both ways.

Salute the nation

So if the FO thinks Skipper is that bad, why was he on the Steelers regular season roster to begin with???

We are spotty on defensive players in the 1st round and pretty much dreadful past the 3rd.

NY Giants signed Skipper to their practice squad.

If Steelers were really interested in reacquiring him, they would have claimed him off waivers.

But as a practice squad player, Skipper is free to sign to any other team’s 53-man roster if they offer him a contract.

So technically speaking, he is available to the Steelers right now.
