Steelers Road to Playoffs

I almost posted this same thread yesterday.... Ive been saying that as long as we beat the Chargers we would contend for the division... however im pessimistically optimistic... Tomlins teams have a hideous record vs teams they should annihilate...

the Dolphin game at home on a monday night vs a team that may be the worse in the nfl... that worries me more than the Rams or bills...
The colts game vs an underperforming colts team at home right before the Rams game.. that worries me
The Rams with the new defense they are about to field... im worried about that too...
then immediately after that game there is the browns in Cleveland on a Thursday night... terrified that if we drop that game we reenergize a browns team that may be broken by then...

After that there is a horrible bengals team on the road that we are almost assuredly going to take lightly

The Browns again at home, which they are going to come full bore for us one way or the other even if they are out of it by then

A trip to Arizona for a trap game vs the Cards

A pretty good bills team at home

Another huge trap game vs the Jets

And the season ending road game vs the Ratbirds

All of them winnable, but each absolutely loseable as well

Here is the thing.. the ravens schedule over the next two months is brutally difficult.
in their next 7 games, they play one bad team... the 0-6 bengals In Cinci.... the other six teams are 27-7... and 3 of those losses comes from the underperforming 3-3 rams who they play IN LA...

If they make it through that stretch and still have a better record than we do then they deserve the division....

2-4...win next game and try not to have anymore players break. Repeat until last game of season.

Playoffs are not even a thought.

We have 2 out for the season Tuitt and Ben. Not sure that counts as injuries piling up. We have others out for a few games, but nobody that significant.
Only players likely out for Miami are Washington and Samuels.

You all keep forgetting that a Tomlin-coached team always loses a game they should have won. The ceiling for this team is 7 wins.

Lets hope Tomlin got that out of his system early this year. Seattle, San Fran or the Ravens game were all possible wins that they had slip away
If they lose to Miami after a bye week then we know Tomlin is who we thought he was .........clueless

Duck! Duck! Duck!

Its all up to Duck!

Looks like Mason could be out a long while with concussion symptoms, why havent the mods fixed that fake news thread yet?

Miami won't let them lose. They are in "sink for Tua" mode. Just watch the last few minutes of the redskins game. Just lose baby.

Here's a list of games where the Ravens have a good chance of losing:

@Seattle, New England, @LA Rams, San Francisco, @Buffalo, @Cleveland. Plus they play Houston in Baltimore which is still no easy task.

So we have a decent chance to be at least even with them for the final showdown in Baltimore last game of the season.

Of course on the flip side, if Miami beats us, that makes their #1 we traded to them a little higher in the draft. They can go 1-15 and still get Tua.

With all the bad teams I doubt they want to risk being leap frogged...

As for beating the Browns...

They did just put up 26 or so points. You can't sleep on the Browns. Meanwhile the Steelers QBs this season are averaging a yuge 2.4 yards per pass in the air. And that's when they are playing from behind!

One thing that gives me hope against the Browns, Baker Mayfield. Overrated turnover machine. If our defense can get a couple more takeaways from him, our offense won't have to do too much IMHO.

Not Saying we must win out. Simple formula. Win remaining division games and win remaining home games. We can do better than that but I think that wins the division.

This would require outside help. The Browns and Ravens need to lose their games against top ten teams.

Our schedule is favorable and the AFC is weak right now. Playoffs are not out of the question. We should be 3-4 after the Miami game. The Ravens and Colts games are key. Maybe Buffalo too.

With Ben we would be 6-1 after the Miami game.

I mean this season is going to be a practice in the concept of a very moving object being hit with an extremely stoppable force

Tomlins teams are notorious for blowing games against inferior teams because they either come out flat or play stupid lazy ball down tge stretch of the game... his record vs terrible teams is atrocious....

The saving grace is that right now i think tge ravens are a paper tiger and the browns are a young team with no oline who literally bought the hype they had and are going to tailspin out

That Thursday night game a month away vs them is going to be huge if we are in contention by then...

This could be a season that teaches Tomlin how to coach. He can’t rely on Ben. It seems it is sink or swim. We have already seen two games where the initial game plan was adjusted better than average to the strengths and weaknesses of the team. Not perfect but better. Injuries almost cost us the last one at the end. Hopefully he will continue to work harder and won’t backslide.
