He seems to move and catch and perhaps block like the second best TE on the roster. Well worth a 5th. Not bitching about Fitzpatrick, he has played well, but that was just way too much in my opinion. A second and a pack of lower picks, no problem. But a first?? likely a top 10 pick.

It’s early, but it looks like Colbert really wasted that 5th rounder......

So far so good. The real test comes Sunday v the Rats

I've totally come around on the draft pick trades. Wasn't a big fan at first cause I've always loved the drama of the draft. However, the point is to add quality players to the team no matter how they are acquired and the draft is a crapshoot (sometimes you roll a 7 and get TJ Watt and sometimes you throw snake eyes and get Jarvis Jones). Picking up two solid young starters or primary backups in positions of need like Minka and Vannett is worth giving up a couple rolls on the craps table. Emphasis on YOUNG players. Don't want to see them giving up picks for older guys on the downside of their careers.

Whats not to like? He has Heath Miller size, proved he can catch and throw blocks and just got a copy of the playbook a couple days ago. I like the move and look forward to playing even more of an active role.

Oh, there'll still be plenty of drama when the draft rolls around. All these players were picked within the range of our picks in 2020:

Rudolph
Connor
Hargrave
Tuitt
Bell
Sanders
AB
Wallace
Woodley

calm down Debbie

You know the joke about "So far, so good"?

Seems a guy fell off a 10 story building, but being the eternal optimist told the people on the 9th floor, "So far, so good," the people on the 8th floor, "So far, so good" ...

No doubt but my buddies and I always get together at the bar to watch the first round. Guess that won't be happening this year....

I don't know if you can really ask for anything more than what Vannett provided last night, and with only a few days practice. Alex Kozora has some highlights of Vannett on his Twitter timeline that show some great blocking and one particularly great catch.

I like him all the way around. Block / catch / persona, all seem good. Could use a little nasty added but then again, the whole team needs some of that.

Salute the nation

Well he played in 62% of the snaps against the Bolts. He had 1 catch for 5 yards. Which I guess is better than his 0 catches for 0 yards last week.

He's still on the roster, which seems to be better than most of our fifth-round picks.

How did he do blocking? I see at least JuJu out did him in yards in the SD game.

Gentry was a 5th and he's still on the team. He's not playing much but he is a rookie.

Not sure. I wasn't really watching him. Someone that did can chime in. I know they went to Banner when they needed a short yardage run. So they had 6 OL in the game a few times.

Vannett is doing well. He is a good blocker and that's what they've been using him mostly for now that McDonald is back. What sucks is they are using McDonald for a blocker as well. When will this team learn that the TE is a huge weapon and we now have 2 very good receiving TE's. Use them!

Rudy seems to like passing to the TE. We will see more catches as he gets comfy under center.
