LMAO, what I've learned listening to Sports Radio in Pittsburgh this weekend.

Fact is, Dupree's been having a career year and has been playing great this whole season, both against the run and rushing the QB. Surely that's painful for the Bud haters to stomach, but it's true. He's no Jarvis Jones, not even close.

True but I'm thinking that Durpee IS Jason Worilds v. 2.0, where he has a career year in his contract year, Tombert gets all hot and bothered and franchise him or show him the money, and as soon as he gets paid he goes back to suckage. Pretty simple as before Haley Ben was always looking for the mid to deep passes consistently, after Haley was hired Ben got better at taking checkdowns and throwing underneath with shorter passes when they were open, because with Arians he was getting killed with sacks looking deep, after Haley he's become more well rounded in finding the open option regardless of depth of route. Is that better for you?

1. The team like Hodges better than Mason because everyone played harder when Hodges played

2. Hodges reads the defense before the snap of the ball, something Mason doesn't do, and something Ben doesn't do that much.

3. Injured Ben has more of a say in what plays are run on offense than Tomlin himself, like the pass by Samuels, that was more likely Ben's call than Tomlins (this one came from the actual host of the show)

4. Why wasn't Ben in LA, he should be there helping Hodges, Ben doesn't like him.

I wonder what type of mushrooms they're on. In no way,shape or form could you really form any kind of solid opinion on Hodges. He just doesn't have the work to judge him on.

If they could come to a fair both ways deal of about 4-6 million a season with low guarenteed money, I could live with that.

JJ was a totally different case than Dupree... JJ was physically stiff... he wasn’t adequate athletically... Dupree is a physical specimen that mentally was a bit slow in diagnosing plays and is probably better in space than on the edge in that way... that’s why he kept overrunning plays.. if Dupree finally got the scheme and his responsibilities in his head enough that the game slowed down for him then he will be fine going forward...

He doesn't seem to understand leverage. His technique has not improved. TJ Watt has good technique. If Dupre was playing to his potential, we would see more sacks or errant throws by the QB. This is would help the secondary. We wouldcu have more interceptions. Dupree is a bigger version of Mccullers

A bigger version of Big Dan? Lulz those two players have nothing in common. And Dupree certainly isn't bigger than oaktree. Dupree is athletic just really not football instinctive. He is a hard worker and is having his best season to date.

I say both of our OLB's are off to a good start, not sure why people aren't willing to concede that.

Pretty much only listen to Tunch and Wolfe and Stan since they provide plenty of insight and obvious knowledge, but the other guys form 93.7 The fan, forget about it. Too damn opinionated for my taste and if you don't agree with them they talk to you in a condescending manner.

Being in western Ohio in Bengal-Brown-Buckeye land, I always think I want to hear some Pittsburgh sports radio... until I actually do hear those ********. I've also tried to find a Steelers podcast, but most that I've listened to will have a loud mouthed know-it-all I can't stand, or else they're just cheerleading Tomlin-loving homers. Anyone have any suggestions for a podcast or radio show with SOME semi-intelligent Steeler discussion?

Oh, and Bud Dupree has been kinda fun to watch this year. He is actually someone the offense has to account for. I haven't seen his outside rush take him 10 yards behind the QB all year, and he's been pretty decent in run support... very good to great from the back side. If only he hadn't been a complete liability his first four years.... I don't know whether he's a slow learner or suddenly busting *** for a contract, but it's too bad for us: one good season for him in a wasted season for the team. I'd have a hard time giving him a big contract, but he might have 5 more years as a very good OLB. It's a big gamble.

On a completely unrelated note, does anyone else HATE seeing a Steeler QB wearing number 6 out there? Brings back some very ****** QB memories. I know it was before Hodges was born, but dude, know your audience! I'm afraid they're going to pan the camera over for some cringe-worthy shots of Bubby's mom.

I concur. Madden plays the heel to grab ratings... he is a pretty decent dude IRL or at least from what ive seen and heard from him away from the limelight... most of the false edginess from the fans guys just comes off as stupid or condescending... but not as entertaining...

Stan is pretty much the gold standard for Pittsburgh sports media, and the tunch and wolfley duo are both entertaining and informative...the can go technical or give behind the scenes glimpses...

One of the main differences is that Watt is often doubled teamed while Dupree is singled up. Dupree also has played against some scrub LTs. 2 of the LTs he has faced were rookies.

Bud has improved dramatically since he listened to what i said and gave up on the long looping outside pass rush moves that took him way out of every play and instead just stays tight to his side and makes short beeline paths to the RB hole now, finding the QB on the way
