Brown 16 catches 167 yds 0 tds

Ab basically didn’t play his rookie season... as most wrs don’t... it’s actually a fairly recent thing where rookie wrs see any time... WR is one of the longer development areas... it’s probably equivalent to the qb learning curve, because of the severe implications of wrong routes, missed blocks, and bad reads...

Troy Edwards 61 catches, 714 yds, 5 tds

Mike Wallace 39 catches, 756 yds, 6tds

They did decent in their rookie years

I don't think anyone here is anointing DJ as being the coming of "Tony". I think it was just stated as a factual staement of the better stats. Besides, if he did become better than Tony, that doesn't automatically make him a behavioral deva, unless he adopts that role.

Salute the nation

Im fairly confident in saying DJ will not be close to what AB was on the field

While statistically it's unlikely that anybody will get to where AB was on the field (for that 6 years), it's kind of a small sample size at this point to make that determination don't you think?

Meh say what you will about the dude but he was the best at EVERYTHING he did lol

He was so incredible that he's actually out of a job now. Think about all the off-field bullshit this turd has on his plate to get to that point where he's not currently playing in the NFL.

AB is a complete pile of ****, thats true. But for the past several years he's been one of the best receivers in the league, an argument can even be made that he was the actual best receiver in the league. Comparing him to a receiver who has been in the league barely long enough to heat up a Hot Pocket, is just beyond asinine. Seriously.

Let me just add that I hope DJ can become something nearly as productive as AB was, but comparing them at this point in DJ's career..... come on now.

Not sure the point of this thread. So what? AB didn't play much his first year. He was a 6th round pick and the Steelers had several WRs in front of him. Johnson doesn't have that problem.

Yeah, I was ecstatic they took Troy Edwards instead of Jevon Kearse.

as was Cohwer and the rest of the original steelers.com message board imagine Kearse and Porter on the edges. back then.

Kearse started off with 3 good years, then he became Dupree.

Cowher was chubby for Boston. When Boston went to Arizona Cowher went all, what's that affliction when you get jilted, something akin to 'beer goggles', and inexplicably grabbed the diminutive Edwards, passing on the potential all-world Adonis, Jevon Kearse.

Kearse started off with 3 good years, then he became Dupree.

The diminutive Edwards had a decent rookie year then became Troy Edwards.

When people on here were saying JuJu and James would be as good as Brown and Bell and this team would be fine without them, I didn't think you could be any dumber? I was wrong.

I believe Donahue was the one that had final say and took Edwards, which started the Cowher/Donahue power struggle resulting in Donahue getting the boot, after that our 1st round picks were Burress, Hampton, Simmons, Troy, Ben, Heath, Holmes
