Well according to Gerry Dulac in his chat, releasing Moncrief won't get them back the comp pick. You can only potentially get awarded comp picks when you lose players in free agency, and not by releasing them.

haven't read the article yet, but if Moncrief was catching passes, it wouldn't matter.

as it stands now, if its a choice between keeping Moncrief or getting our 3rd round comp pick back I say "Bye Bye Moncrief".

If we get rid of Moncrief for a plate of beef chippy it’s a win.

Like Blitz, I was pretty excited about Moncrief's potential to stretch the defense when they first signed him but he really turned out to be a dud.

He caught Sammy Coates' fingeritis. (The only thing he has caught)

I was kinda excited when we picked him up. Bet you guys are glad I am not running the team!

I look at it as the Steelers' version of the Pirates trade for Chris Archer. It seemed like a good idea at the time.

Explain to me why the Eagles releasing Fort affects our comp pick if releasing Moncrief doesn't? We lost him to free agency, regardless of what happened afterward.

This is what I don’t get either... did the pats comp picks get readjusted when they resigned blount after we cut him? I seem to remember the same idiotic media claiming they got him for the stretch run and got a pick for him too back then.... I could be wrong, but I thought it was just net gain/ loss in ufa with contract size determining value....

From what I've read, the formula is affected by how long the player is on your team. I personally don't understand it because the salary is fully guaranteed once you are rostered on week 1, but evidently you can release someone before week 8, and if they were a FA, the team that released him, loses the trade value associated with the player, because they didn't stick on the roster, i guess?

Either way, I drop Moncrief for Eli yesterday, if this is the case. Problem is, Moncrief is a ton of dead money. He'd be $5M to cut.

They'd be over the cap if they cut him. Unless they defer his signing bonus for next year to next year's dead money of $1.75M

Knew his name should be changed to MonGrief

If we had any draft picks to trade we could go after Diggs..... Looks like he wants out on Minn.
