Or maybe not. These are the quarterbacks taken in the top half of round 1 since Ben was drafted.
Alex Smith
Vince Young
Matt Leinart
Jay Cutler
Jamarcus Russell
Matt Ryan
Matthew Stafford
Mark Sanchez
Sam Bradford
Cam Newton
Jake Locker
Christian Ponder
Andrew Luck
RGIII
Ryan Tannehill
EJ Manuel
Blake Bortles
Jameis Winston
Marcus Mariotta
Jared Goff
Carson Wentz
Mitchell Trubisky
Patrick Mahomes
Deshaun Watson
Baker Mayfield
Sam Darnold
Josh Rosen

I see 2 studs, Mahomes, and Luck, 2 good but not quite great in Ryan, and Stafford, 2 flawed guys that you can still win games with in Smith, and Newton, 10 failures, 2 disappointments who might soon join the failures (Winston, Mariotta), Wentz, who looked good early, but is now struggling, 4 who've shown potential, but that I'm not sold on (Watson, Trubisky, Goff, Mayfield), and 2 who are struggling (Rosen. Darnold). It ain't easy to find a stud. Brady, Brees, and Rodgers are three veteran studs. None were drafted in the top half of the first round.

Question for you draftnicks. Is Paxton Lynch just a bum, or should we take into consideration the fact that Denver, one of the NFL's showcase franchises, has turned into even more of a **** show than the Steelers, and that he might be worth keeping around.

A known unknown. Perhaps if he is still around by training camp we will get a better feel for where he is at.

Yes, we got Malone, but we also got Bradshaw and Ben. I don't think this was the year to trade the first pick away.

You didn’t go where I thought you were going with this, but you just made the case for trading for Fitzpatrick.

I don't think the Steelers were going to draft a QB high (or even low) next year. They aren't going to give up on Rudolph that quick. So the draft pick was probably going to be another position IMHO.

yeah, they expect Ben back and seem to have faith in Mason so QB was not likely high on their list

I still think Ben has a couple of years left in him. He'll have an entire year to recover and rest. He should be good to go next season.

That SOB is as stubborn and competitive as they come, so I hear you, Ben will be back.

And thank God.

Nobody knows if Rudolph can be the man. I like Hodges, I might like a high first round pick, but that ain't happening. We re stuck in Tomlin land as far as QBs go. Apparently this org thinks Ben is coming back, and that means Tomlin is coming back. That means more of the same ****.

Rudolph has looked fine, the play calling to start the SF game was brutal predictable safe throws and early runs up the gut which led to long or heavy pass rush on 2nd and 3rd, in the first half, where AV was constantly getting pushed back. Tuo could be its another is he a product of a solid D in front of him and good WR's or is he the real deal as far as how things look he at this level could struggle like Mariota.

For Mason’s first game starting I think he did fine. He’s on the road against what appears to be a decent team, no running game, insufficient blocking, poor game plan, not playing to his strengths, receivers not getting open consistently, ya we really gave the kid a fair shot.
I refuse to compare him to Ben and his first game years ago. Not a fair comparison since Ben had a much better cast around him and much better coaching.
Mason will do fine this year if we can support him with better coaching, blocking, running game, etc.

Paxton Lynch is not a good NFL QB...hell he went to Memphis..nothing good comes out of that place

except Rendezvous ribs and Central BBQ pulled pork. Gus's fried chicken also comes to mind

I don't see any super star QB in next years draft class

Believe it or not, I think both Tua and Hurts turn into really good NFL QB's. I'm not saying that as a Bama homer either---Tua is a better version of Russell Wilson and like him or not, I see a lot of Donovan McNabb in Hurts.
